A module development company that adds the features your platform is missing
We are a module development company based in Lahore, building custom modules, extensions and add-ons for PrestaShop, OpenCart, Joomla, Laravel applications, Magento, Odoo and other ERP platforms. Our work suits store owners, agencies and operations teams whose platform does almost everything they need except one or two things that decide how well the business runs.
By Junaid Tariq · Reviewed October 2026
- Add-on code kept separate from the platform core, so upgrades stay possible
- Written scope, staging tests and handover documentation on every project
- Delivery from Lahore with UK, UAE and US working-hour overlap, billed in USD
Positioning: modules are where platforms meet your business
Every platform is built for the average customer. Your business is not average.
You sell on terms your competitors do not, ship with couriers nobody wrote a connector for, approve purchases in a sequence that reflects how your owners think, or price by a rule that does not fit the default catalogue. Modules are how platforms are meant to be bent without being broken.
A custom module is a self-contained piece of code that attaches to a platform through its supported extension points: hooks in PrestaShop, events and OCMOD in OpenCart, components and plugins in Joomla, service providers and packages in Laravel, add-ons in Odoo. When written well it installs and removes cleanly, survives updates and can be handed to another developer. When written badly, it is a core edit in disguise.
We approach module work as an engineering discipline with a commercial purpose. The question we ask first is not what to build but whether it should be built at all. Sometimes the answer is a marketplace extension, sometimes a configuration change, sometimes a different platform. Telling you that early is part of the service, and it is why clients return for the work that does need code.

Project organisation and team
You get one person who understands your platform and your goals, backed by developers, a tester and, when needed, a designer.
This is not bureaucracy.
Documentation is what lets a module outlive the person who wrote it, and it is the first thing a new developer will ask for when you change suppliers or hire in-house.
Communication is by whatever channel suits you, usually email and a shared task board, with scheduled calls rather than constant interruptions. WhatsApp is welcome for quick questions, and decisions that change scope are always confirmed in writing.
Baseline included in every module project
The same professional baseline applies to a small connector and a large module.
- Discovery and written specificationA short, plain-language document that states behaviour, edge cases, exclusions and acceptance criteria.
- Build on a staging copyDevelopment never happens on your live system. Version control tracks every change.
- Installable, removable packageClean install, upgrade and uninstall routines, with settings kept in the platform's own configuration.
- Admin configurationScreens for staff to change behaviour without a developer where that makes sense.
- Testing recordScenarios run, devices and browsers covered, and compatibility with your other modules.
- Security reviewValidated input, escaped output, checked permissions and safe database access.
- Documentation and handoverInstall notes, tested versions, change list and a rollback plan.
- Defect-fix windowA defined period after launch to correct issues in delivered work, agreed upfront.
Process from first call to live module
The same sequence, scaled to the size of the job.
- Intake and platform reviewYou describe the problem. We look at your platform version, theme or framework, hosting and installed modules, and ask about the business rule behind the request.
- Buy, configure or buildWe check for maintained existing solutions and built-in settings. If one fits, we say so and help you adopt it.
- Specification and quoteYou receive the written scope with assumptions and either a fixed quote or an estimated range with a clear change process.
- Development in short cyclesWe build against staging and share working builds. You react to something real, not to descriptions.
- Acceptance testingYour team tests with real scenarios while we fix and adjust. Sign-off is based on the criteria we wrote at the start.
- ReleaseWe back up, install, test the live flow and monitor the first days of traffic.
- Support and evolutionA retainer or on-demand help for platform updates, new requirements and small improvements.
Platforms and technologies
We work in the ecosystems below and recommend based on your situation.
Platform | Typical module work | Core technology |
|---|---|---|
PrestaShop | Checkout, carriers, catalogue, back-office tools | PHP, Symfony, Smarty or Twig |
OpenCart | Payments, shipping, order tools, feeds | PHP, OCMOD, events |
Joomla | Directories, membership, integrations | PHP, Joomla MVC, Bootstrap |
Laravel | Billing, portals, inventory, reporting | PHP, Eloquent, queues, Livewire or Inertia |
Magento | B2B rules, integrations, admin tools | PHP, dependency injection, UI components |
Odoo and ERPNext | Workflows, documents, costing, reports | Python, XML views, Frappe |
WordPress and WooCommerce | Handled by our plugin team | PHP, hooks, Gutenberg |
Engagement models and how we price
A fixed-scope project suits well-defined modules: you get a written scope, a quote and a delivery plan.
A time-and-materials arrangement suits discovery-heavy work, such as integrating with a poorly documented system, where the scope will clarify as we learn.
We do not publish a price list, because module cost is driven by factors that vary widely: the number of screens, the quality of third-party APIs, the platform version, the amount of testing needed and how well the existing code is organised.
Where a price depends on assumptions, we state them, and we describe how a change request would be handled before anyone asks for one.
Contracts and NDAs are available on request. The wider offer sits under our software development services.
Clients this service suits
The fit is usually clear within the first conversation.
Store owners
Running PrestaShop, OpenCart or Magento and needing a rule, connector or report the store does not offer.
Agencies and freelancers
Needing a reliable development partner for module work while they focus on design and clients.
Operations and finance teams
Using Odoo, ERPNext or a bespoke system where one process still lives in spreadsheets.
Software product teams
Building a Laravel application that has grown too tangled and needs clear boundaries.
Institutions and directories
Running Joomla sites that must add features without a rebuild.
Marketplaces and importers
Selling across channels and needing feeds, stock sync and order routing.
Sector examples from our own market
A garment exporter in Sialkot may need a module that generates buyer-specific packing documents.
A distributor needs customer-specific price lists and credit limit checks.
Health and education organisations add privacy requirements that affect how data is stored and logged.
A checkout change affects conversion and attribution, a product feed module affects what Google Merchant Center sees, and a form module determines whether leads reach the sales team.
Security and long-term upkeep
That makes them a favourite target when written carelessly.
Payment-related modules hand card data to the gateway's own hosted components wherever the provider supports it, so card numbers never touch your server.
Platforms release updates, PHP versions reach end of life and hosting companies change defaults. A module that was fine last year can stop working after a server upgrade.
We record tested versions, keep a changelog and offer a maintenance arrangement that covers retesting after platform and PHP updates. If you prefer to maintain it yourself, the documentation is written so another developer can.
We also help with the surrounding hygiene: removing abandoned extensions, reviewing which modules slow the shop down and retiring code that nobody uses.
Working with agencies and in-house teams
A large share of our module work comes through other agencies and in-house developers who need extra capacity or a platform specialist.
We follow your coding standards and branch rules where they exist, and agree a review routine so nothing merges unseen.
The comparison of delivery models in our post on in-house, outsourced and dedicated teams is a useful starting point.
Questions to put to any module vendor
Use these with us and with anyone else you are considering.
- Do you build on supported extension points?Ask which hooks, events or APIs the module will use. A vague answer often means core edits.
- Who owns the code?Ownership should pass to you on payment, in writing, with the repository handed over.
- How will it be tested?Look for a staging copy, a scenario list and a record of versions tested, not a promise that it works.
- What happens when the platform updates?A good vendor can explain how upgrades are handled and what retesting costs.
- How is scope change handled? The answer should describe a process, not a mood.
- Who will actually do the work?Meet or at least name the developer. Subcontracting is common and should be disclosed.
- Can I see something comparable?Ask for a walkthrough of a similar module and its documentation, bearing in mind that client work is often under NDA.
Factors that move scope and timeline
These shape every quote we give.
Platform version and age
Older versions have fewer supported extension points and need more careful testing.
Quality of existing code
Core edits, abandoned extensions and missing documentation add investigation time.
Third-party systems
API quality, sandbox access and approval delays often decide the calendar.
Number of roles and shops
Multistore, multilingual and multi-role systems multiply test cases.
Reporting and compliance
Audit trails and data privacy rules increase design and documentation work.
Your availability
Fast decisions and quick test feedback shorten a project more than extra developers.
Cases where a custom module is the wrong choice
If a maintained extension already does the job, buy it. If your need is a one-off report, export the data and use a spreadsheet.
We say these things in the first call because they save you money, and because a client who trusts our advice comes back for the project that does need building.
Our post comparing which of OpenCart, PrestaShop and Joomla need custom modules shows how we think about this decision.
Delivery from Lahore, with a global working day
That puts us in a practical position for clients in the UK and UAE, whose working afternoons overlap with our day, and for US clients who prefer morning calls that fall in our evening.
In Pakistan we understand local requirements such as cash on delivery workflows, couriers with uneven API quality, WhatsApp as a sales and support channel, Urdu and English interfaces and hosting that must cope with variable power and connectivity.
For international clients, we invoice in USD and use standard tools for tracking, version control and communication, so there is nothing unusual to learn.
If you want to see how outsourcing to Pakistan works in practice, read why outsource digital marketing and development to Pakistan.
Proof by method: how we show quality
We show how the work is checked. Every module comes with a test record, the list of platform versions it was run on, a change log and a reversible deployment.
After release we watch order flow, error logs and support tickets for the first days, so any side effect is visible while it is cheap to fix.
For clients who want to see our wider body of work, the case studies pages describe projects across marketing and development. Our 98% client satisfaction figure reflects ongoing feedback from clients.
For deeper reading, our module development articles explain the trade-offs, and the Odoo, ERPNext and custom ERP comparison helps with platform choice.

Questions to ask any module developer
Use these with us or with anyone else you are considering. A good provider answers them plainly.
- Which platform versions will the module support?A stated list of versions, with a plan for future upgrades.
- How do you avoid breaking core upgrades?Use of official extension points and no direct core changes.
- How do you handle data and permissions?Defined access rules and careful handling of customer and order data.
- What documentation is delivered?Installation steps, configuration notes and a short admin guide.
- What support follows delivery?A defined fix period and a clear price for changes after that.
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
What does a module development company actually do?
It designs, builds, tests and maintains add-ons that attach to an existing platform, such as a store, CMS, application framework or ERP. The work ranges from a small checkout rule to a full feature with its own admin area. The goal is to add behaviour without editing the platform's core, so updates remain possible.
How is a module different from a plugin or an extension?
The words vary by platform. PrestaShop and Magento use modules, OpenCart and Joomla use extensions, WordPress uses plugins. They all describe code that attaches to a host system through supported points. Our plugin team covers the WordPress side.
How long does a custom module take to build?
A small module can take days, while a feature with an admin area, an external API and several languages takes weeks. The timeline depends on scope, platform version and how fast you can test. You get a schedule with the quote, and any assumption that could shift it is stated.
Do you offer fixed-price quotes?
Yes for well-defined scope, based on a written specification. For discovery-heavy work we use an estimated range with a defined review point. We never start without agreeing how changes to scope are handled.
Can you fix or take over a module someone else built?
Yes. We review the code, test it on staging and report what is sound, what is risky and what to replace. You decide whether to repair, extend or rebuild, with our recommendation and the reasoning.
Will my module break when the platform updates?
Not if it uses supported extension points and is maintained. Major platform upgrades can still require adjustments, so we record tested versions and offer maintenance to retest and update when new releases arrive.
Do you work with clients outside Pakistan?
Yes. We serve clients in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Europe, with USD billing and working-hour overlap agreed per project. See the global clients hub for details.
How do I start a project?
Send the platform name and version, a description of the behaviour you want and, if possible, a screen recording of the current process. We will review it and reply with questions and a proposed scope. You can also book a consultation directly.
