PrestaShop module development that adds the feature without breaking your store
We design, build and maintain custom PrestaShop modules for online stores whose needs are not covered by the marketplace: special checkout rules, courier and payment connections, catalogue tools and back-office screens. It suits store owners and agencies who want a feature that survives PrestaShop upgrades instead of a patch in the core files.

A module is the right place for custom logic
PrestaShop is built around modules. Payment methods, carriers, product tabs, the cart summary and most of the admin screens are modules that attach to the shop through hooks.
When your store needs behaviour the default install does not offer, a custom module is the clean way to add it. The alternative, editing core or theme files directly, works until the next upgrade and then silently disappears.
We write modules in PHP using the Symfony-based admin architecture on current PrestaShop versions and the older legacy controllers where an existing store still needs them. We confirm your exact version first, because the hook list, the admin routing and the template engine differ between major releases. A module written for one version is not automatically safe on another.
A realistic example: a Lahore home-textile store that sells with cash on delivery wants to hide the COD option for certain cities and for orders above a limit the owner sets. That is a small payment-filter module with an admin settings page, not a redesign. Another store might need its product feed pushed to a marketplace every night. Both are module jobs, and both are much cheaper to maintain as a module than as scattered edits.
Problems this work solves
Most requests fall into a handful of patterns.
Checkout and payment rules
Conditional payment methods, minimum order rules, extra form fields, delivery slot pickers and COD handling for local couriers.
Courier and shipping connections
Rate lookup, label generation and tracking updates for carriers that have no ready-made PrestaShop connector.
Catalogue and bulk tools
Custom product attributes, import and export tools, supplier price syncing and variant handling the default importer cannot do.
Back-office screens
Order status workflows, staff-only reports and dashboard blocks so your team stops exporting spreadsheets.
Third-party integrations
Links to accounting software, a CRM, WhatsApp order notifications or an ERP, handled through the vendor API.
Front-office features
Product configurators, size guides, wishlist behaviour and landing blocks that need real logic rather than a page edit.

Handover package for every module
Every module project ends with the same package, whatever the size.
- Written specificationA short document describing what the module does, what it does not do, which hooks and tables it touches and how it behaves for each user role.
- Installable module packageA zip you can upload through the back office, with a clean install and uninstall routine that removes its own tables and settings.
- Admin configuration pageSettings stored properly in the shop configuration, so staff can change behaviour without calling a developer.
- Multistore and multilingual supportWhere your shop needs it, translations through PrestaShop's own system and correct behaviour per shop and per currency.
- Source code and notesCommented code, installation steps, the PrestaShop and PHP versions it was tested on, and a rollback procedure.
- Staging test reportWhat we tested on a copy of your store: orders, refunds, guest checkout, caching on and off, and the other modules you run.
- Short support windowA defined period after launch to fix defects in what we delivered, agreed in writing before work starts.

Stages from first call to live module
The order of work matters more than the speed of typing.
- Discovery call and store reviewWe look at your PrestaShop version, theme, installed modules and hosting, then confirm the exact behaviour you want.
- Specification and quoteYou receive the written scope and a fixed quote or an estimated range of effort, with the assumptions behind it.
- Build on stagingWe develop against a copy of your store, never your live shop, using version control so every change can be traced.
- Testing togetherYou test the module with real scenarios, such as a failed payment, a partial refund or a customer who changes the cart in another tab.
- Release and monitoringWe install on the live store at a quiet hour, take a backup first and watch orders and logs for the first days.
- Maintenance after launchOptional version upgrades and small changes, handled as a retainer or as separate small jobs, as you prefer.
Stack and tooling
We keep the tooling plain so another developer can pick the module up later.
Area | What we use | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
Language | PHP matching your PrestaShop version | Avoids features the host server cannot run |
Framework layer | PrestaShop hooks, Symfony admin components, Smarty and Twig templates | Keeps the module inside supported extension points |
Database | MySQL or MariaDB tables created by the module installer | Clean install and uninstall |
Version control | Git with a staging branch | Every change can be reviewed and reversed |
Quality checks | PrestaShop Validator, PHP code standards, manual test scripts | Catches problems before a marketplace or client does |
Integrations | REST and SOAP APIs, webhooks, CSV and XML feeds | Connects the shop to couriers, ERPs and accounting tools |
Scope and timeline levers in a PrestaShop build
We quote after reviewing the store. These points move the work up or down.
Number of hooks and screens
A single filter is quick. A module with an admin area, front-office output and scheduled tasks is a larger build.
External APIs
Documentation quality, sandbox access and rate limits of a courier or ERP often decide the timeline more than our code does.
Version and theme
Older PrestaShop installs or heavily modified themes need extra compatibility work.
Multistore and languages
Each extra shop, currency or Urdu and English variant adds testing.
Marketplace distribution
Selling the module to others requires documentation, licensing and review rounds beyond a private build.
Existing code quality
If earlier developers edited core files, we may need to untangle that before adding anything.
Cases where buying beats building
If an established module already does what you want and is maintained, buying it is usually cheaper than building.
If you are weighing a move to Shopify or WooCommerce within the year, spending heavily on PrestaShop-specific logic may not pay back.
Our comparison of OpenCart, PrestaShop and Joomla and which needs custom modules covers that decision.
If the real issue is slow hosting or a checkout that confuses buyers, you need speed optimisation or a design review first.
Proof by method: how we show the module works
What you get instead is evidence you can check: a test log of the scenarios we ran, screenshots of the admin settings, and a list of every table and hook the module touches.
We have delivered 500+ websites and managed projects for clients in 48 countries, working from Gulberg III in Lahore with time overlap for UK, UAE and US morning calls.
Invoicing for international clients is in USD, and every project starts with a written scope so you know what a change request means before you ask for one.
If PrestaShop is only part of your stack, the same team handles OpenCart extensions, Joomla extensions and wider module development services.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
How long does a custom PrestaShop module take?
A small filter or notification module can be ready in a few days of development, while a module with an admin area, an external API and multistore support takes several weeks. We give a timeline after reading your specification, and we flag anything that depends on a third party's API access.
Will the module survive a PrestaShop upgrade?
It will if it uses supported hooks and avoids core overrides, which is how we build. Major version jumps can still need adjustment, so we document the tested version and quote any later compatibility work separately.
Can you customise an existing module instead of building a new one?
Yes, when the licence allows it and the code is in decent shape. Often the safer route is a small companion module that adds your behaviour without editing the original. See also our plugin customization services for the WordPress side.
Do you build courier and payment connectors for Pakistan?
Yes, subject to the carrier or gateway providing an API and test credentials. Our post on custom payment gateway plugins for Pakistani stores explains what to ask providers before development starts.
Who owns the code?
You do, once the project is paid for, unless you have asked us to build something we resell under a separate agreement. Source code is part of the handover.
Can you work on a store that someone else built?
Yes. We review the code and server first, list the risks and tell you whether to build on the current base or clean it up first.
