Google Merchant Center setup that gets your products approved and visible

We handle Google Merchant Center setup for online stores: account creation, domain verification, product feed, shipping and returns, policy checks and linking to Google Ads. It suits stores that want to appear in Shopping results and free listings and have been blocked by disapprovals or messy data.

The feed is the campaign

Shopping ads and free product listings are not built from ad copy. Google reads your product feed: titles, images, prices, availability, identifiers and categories.

If the feed says the product is out of stock, the product vanishes. If the title omits the brand and model, shoppers searching for it do not see you. Merchant Center is where that data lives, and where Google decides whether your products are allowed at all.

We see the same issues repeatedly. Prices on the feed that differ from the landing page, images with watermarks or promotional text, missing GTINs for branded goods, shipping settings left blank and a website without clear returns or contact information. Each triggers warnings or suspensions, and the notices are often vague.

Our work is to make the account approvable and the feed useful, then hand over something your team can maintain. It pairs naturally with Google Shopping ads management when you are ready to advertise.

Trustworthiness

Transparent by default

Written scope before work starts, no guaranteed rankings and ad and analytics accounts that stay in your name. Client feedback is on the reviews page.

Typical reasons products are rejected

The diagnostics screen gives codes. These are the underlying causes we see most.

Price or availability mismatch

The feed says one thing, the product page another. Often caused by sale prices, caching or stock that updates late.

Image problems

Watermarks, promotional text, placeholders and tiny images are refused. Plain product photos on a clean background pass most easily.

Missing identifiers

Branded goods without GTIN or brand, or with the wrong ones, lose visibility or approval.

Website trust gaps

No returns page, no contact details, an insecure checkout or an unclear business name raise account-level flags.

Restricted content

Some categories are limited or not allowed. We check current policy and tell you early if a product line will not qualify.

Landing page errors

Broken links, redirect loops and pages that need a login stop Google from reading the product.

Titles and attributes that match buyer searches

Shoppers do not search the way catalogues are written.

A supplier code means nothing to them; a brand, a product type, a size and a colour does.

We rewrite titles to lead with what people type, keep the most important words early, and avoid stuffing promotional phrases that Google may reject.

Custom labels then let campaigns treat bestsellers, high-margin lines and clearance stock differently.

For fashion, electronics, home goods and health products, extra attributes such as size, colour, material, age group and gender matter, and missing ones limit where products appear.

We check which attributes your categories require and fill the gaps from your product data rather than guessing.

Feed sources and how we handle them

The platform decides how much automation is possible.

Platform
Typical method
Common issue
Shopify
Official Google channel app or feed app
Variant titles and missing identifiers
WooCommerce
Feed plugin with mapping rules
Sale prices and stock sync delays
Magento
Extension or scheduled export
Large catalogues, category mapping
Custom store
XML or CSV feed from the database
Format errors, inconsistent attributes
Spreadsheet
Google Sheets with scheduled fetch
Manual upkeep, stale stock data

Setup sequence and approval wait

Setup is usually straightforward. Approval time is the part we do not control.

  1. Store and catalogue reviewWe examine your site, product data, delivery regions and any previous suspensions.
  2. Account and verificationMerchant Center is created or cleaned up under your ownership, and the domain is verified.
  3. Feed design and mappingAttributes are mapped, titles rewritten and exclusions listed, with sample products checked first.
  4. Submission and diagnosticsThe feed is submitted and issues are worked through, from missing fields to image problems.
  5. Approval and link to adsOnce products are approved, the account is linked to Google Ads and tracking is verified through conversion tracking setup.
  6. Maintenance rhythmWe agree how often the feed refreshes and who owns stock and price accuracy.

Factors that shape the timeline and the quote

No fixed menu, because stores differ widely.

Catalogue size and variants

A store with thousands of variants needs rules and automation. A small catalogue can be handled almost by hand.

Data quality

Clean product data speeds everything. Missing images, weights or identifiers add research time.

Platform and plugins

Some platforms offer strong native feeds, others require a plugin or custom export.

Restricted categories

Health, adult, financial and some other categories face extra Google restrictions, and we verify the current policy before committing.

Existing account problems

Suspensions and repeated disapprovals take longer. Google's review time is outside our control.

Ongoing management needs

If you want continuing feed optimisation, we scope that separately from the initial setup.

Cases where we would advise against it

If your products are in a category Google does not allow, no feed will change that, and we will say so before you spend.

Dropshippers who cannot verify stock or shipping times, and stores with no returns policy or business contact details, are likely to hit trouble however clean the feed is.

It is also premature for a site that is not ready to sell.

If checkout is unreliable, you need ecommerce website development first.

And a store with a handful of products may do better with Search campaigns from Google Ads for ecommerce before investing in a large feed.

Ownership, access and ongoing care

The Merchant Center account is yours.

We work with admin access, and you can see every setting and change. We avoid creating accounts under our own business, because that makes later changes of agency painful.

A feed is never finished. Prices change, products sell out, new lines arrive and policies get updated.

We agree who is responsible for each part of that cycle: your team for stock and price accuracy, ours for rules, titles and diagnostics if you choose a maintenance plan.

For stores that grow into automated campaigns, the feed stays the foundation, which is why we link this work with account audits when results look off.

Measuring a healthy feed

We prove the work with diagnostics, not slogans.

Merchant Center reports approved, limited and disapproved products, so you can see the approval rate move as fixes land.

We track feed freshness, price mismatch warnings, and which products receive impressions and clicks in free listings and ads.
Pakistan-based stores selling abroad need particular care with shipping regions, currency display and returns wording.

Domestic stores using cash on delivery should state it clearly on the site, as Google checks that checkout information is coherent.

Our post on Google Shopping setup for Pakistani stores covers local realities in more detail.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you get in touch.

What is Google Merchant Center?

It is the free Google tool where you upload product data and manage how your products appear in Shopping ads, free listings and some other surfaces. It is separate from Google Ads but linked to it. The Shopping ads lesson gives the overview.

Is a Merchant Center account free?

Creating one costs nothing, and free listings may show your products without ad spend, depending on availability in your country. Paid Shopping ads require a Google Ads budget.

Why was my account suspended or my products disapproved?

Common causes are mismatched prices, missing return or contact information, restricted products and poor image quality. We read the diagnostics, fix what is within your control and prepare a review request where appropriate. We cannot promise reinstatement.

Can you set it up if I sell from Pakistan to other countries?

Yes, if the business details, shipping regions and products meet current Google requirements. We check availability for your target country first, since program rules vary by market.

Do I need GTINs for every product?

Branded products generally need them where manufacturers assign them. Handmade or custom items may not. We advise product by product.

What happens after setup?

Feed maintenance and campaigns begin. Compare options in Performance Max management, or tell us about your store.
