Google app campaigns that find users who stay beyond the install
We set up and manage Google app campaigns that promote Android and iOS apps across Search, Play, YouTube, Discover and the Display network, optimised for installs, in-app actions or value. They suit app owners with a working product, analytics in place and a clear view of what an active user is worth.

- Optimised for in-app actions such as sign-ups and purchases, not install volume alone
- Tracking via Firebase or an attribution partner, tested before launch
- Creative testing plan for text, image and video assets
App campaigns compared with standard Google Ads
You do not write individual ads or choose placements in an app campaign. You provide text, images, videos and a store listing, set a goal and budget, and Google assembles ads across its properties.
The system is built for scale, which means the inputs matter even more than usual: the goal you choose and the quality of your tracking.
An install campaign tells Google to find people who will tap Install, regardless of whether they open the app again. An in-app action campaign finds people likely to complete a defined event, such as registering, adding to cart or subscribing. Value-based bidding goes a step further and aims at high-spending users. Picking the wrong goal is the most expensive mistake in this field.
Apps targeting Pakistan, the Gulf, the UK or US need different thinking. Device mix, payment options, language and typical user quality vary by market, so we plan country by country rather than launching everywhere at once.
One more point on timing: app stores update ranking and review signals continuously, so a spike in paid installs can lift organic downloads, but not always. We track organic and paid installs together, so you know whether the campaign is buying new users or merely relabelling ones you would have won anyway.

From app review to scaled acquisition
A typical sequence for a new app campaign.
- Store listing and readiness checkA weak listing wastes ad spend. We review icon, screenshots, rating, description and crash reports first.
- Tracking buildEvents are implemented, tested and linked to Google Ads, with test installs verified end to end.
- Install-focused launchWhere an app has no event history, we begin on installs to gather data, with a defined plan for moving on.
- Switch to in-app optimisationOnce enough events exist, the campaign targets valuable actions or value.
- Scale by marketWinning countries receive more budget, and new regions are tested one at a time.

Choosing a campaign goal
The choice depends on how much event data you have.
Goal | What Google optimises for | Use when | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
Installs | Lowest cost per install | New app with no event history | Low-quality or inactive users |
In-app actions | Users likely to complete a chosen event | Defined key event with steady volume | Too few events slows learning |
In-app action value | Users likely to generate higher value | Purchases or subscriptions with value tracking | Needs accurate values |
Pre-registration | Sign-ups before launch | Games and apps in pre-launch | Check current availability for your store |
Stack and tools
What we use to measure and manage.
Firebase and Google Analytics for Firebase
Event tracking and linking to Google Ads.
Mobile measurement partners
AppsFlyer, Adjust or similar when attribution across channels is needed.
Google Play Console and App Store Connect
Listing tests, ratings and crash data.
Google Ads reporting
Asset performance, country splits and bidding data.
BigQuery or dashboards
Retention and revenue joins for larger apps.
Fees, budgets and timeline factors
Our fee depends on the number of apps and platforms, the number of countries, creative production needs, tracking complexity and how closely we work with your product team. Ad spend is separate and paid to Google.
App campaigns need a learning period and enough events to optimise, so the budget you set influences how quickly the system finds patterns.
If you also need the app itself built or improved, our app development services team can work on the product, and the Flutter versus React Native versus native comparison helps with early choices.
Apps that are not ready for paid acquisition
If you cannot tell which in-app actions matter, optimise the product first.
Apps that need very precise control over audiences, such as niche B2B tools, may be better served by Search, LinkedIn or direct outreach. See our Google Ads management services for other campaign types.
Pakistan and global app markets
App users in Pakistan often use mid-range Android phones and mobile data, so install size, load time and low-bandwidth behaviour affect retention.
In the Gulf, UK and US, iOS carries a larger share of paying users in many categories, and Apple's privacy settings change measurement.
Where users buy through local wallets or cash methods, in-app purchase events may not exist, and a different action, such as a verified sign-up or first booking, becomes the signal.
Creative assets that help testing
Google combines your assets, so variety matters.
Short headlines
Several benefit-led lines of different angles, not synonyms of each other.
Real screenshots
Images from the app itself, with captions only where readable.
Video in multiple ratios
Vertical, square and landscape clips of the app in use.
Playable or interactive previews
For games, if your studio produces them.
Localised copy
Language and examples adapted per country.
Proof by method: judging user quality
We track what users do after installing: opens, sign-ups, purchases and retention, as far as your analytics allow.
Reports compare cost per valuable action by country, asset and week, and call out campaigns that bring many installs but few real users.
You receive a monthly summary and a call to agree the next tests.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
Can I choose where my app ads appear?
Not directly. App campaigns automate placements across Google surfaces. You influence results through goals, assets, budgets, countries and the quality of your tracking.
Do you manage both Android and iOS apps?
Yes. Measurement differs, especially on iOS, where privacy settings limit available data. We plan around what each platform allows and check current guidance.
What assets do I need?
A store listing, a few text lines, images and ideally video. We can brief or review creatives. Missing video is not fatal, but strong video usually helps testing.
How long does the learning phase last?
It varies with budget, event volume and goal type. Expect weeks, not days, before data is stable enough for decisions. Apps with few events may need longer.
Is it better to optimise for installs or actions?
Start with installs only if you lack event data. Move to in-app actions as soon as you have enough, since that finds more valuable users.
Can you run campaigns for apps built by another company?
Yes. We need access to analytics and the store listing and agree who implements tracking changes. If you are comparing agencies, our Google Ads audit and optimization shows how we review an existing setup.
