ERP support & maintenance so the system stays dependable
ERP support & maintenance is the ongoing care of a live ERP: fixing faults, applying security updates, checking backups, tuning performance and making small changes as your business evolves. It suits companies whose ERP is now essential and who do not want to depend on one developer or a vendor who has gone quiet.

- Updates tested on staging before they touch live data
- Works for systems we built and for ones we inherit after a review
A live ERP needs an owner
An ERP goes quiet after launch, and that is when it starts to decay. A tax rule changes, a new courier is added, a user leaves and their access stays active, the database grows, backups fill a disk, and nobody notices until month-end close fails.
None of this is dramatic, which is why it is neglected.
Support is not only fixing breakage. It is the routine work that prevents breakage: checking that backups complete and can be restored, patching the server and framework, watching slow queries, removing dormant accounts and reviewing error logs before users complain. It also covers the small requests that arrive every week: a new field on an invoice, a report with different grouping, a changed approval limit.
We support systems we built, such as custom ERPs, and packaged platforms including Odoo and ERPNext. For systems built by others we start with a review, because you should know what you are inheriting before you agree a plan.
Support plan components
Plans are tailored. These are the usual components.
- Issue resolutionBugs and errors triaged by severity, with a clear way to raise them and a record of each ticket.
- Security and platform updatesOperating system, database, framework and ERP patches applied and tested on staging first.
- Backup monitoring and restore testsDaily backups confirmed, off-server copies checked and periodic test restores.
- Performance checksSlow reports, heavy queries and database growth reviewed, with fixes proposed.
- User and access reviewsDormant users removed, role changes applied, and unusual access patterns flagged.
- Small enhancementsA pool of time for fields, reports, print formats and workflow tweaks.
- Monitoring and alertsUptime, disk space, queue health and failed integration events watched.
- ReportingA short monthly note on tickets, changes, risks and recommendations.

Onboarding a system we did not build
Taking over somebody else's ERP calls for caution.
- Access and inventoryWe gather server, code, database, domains and credentials, and list every integration and scheduled job.
- Health reviewWe check backups, versions, security settings, customizations, error logs and database size.
- Risk reportYou receive a plain list of problems ranked by urgency, with suggested fixes.
- StabiliseCritical items are fixed first: missing backups, exposed ports, expired certificates, unsupported versions.
- DocumentationWe document the architecture and how to deploy, restore and upgrade it.
- Regular care beginsMonthly routines, ticketing and reviews start under the agreed plan.
Factors behind the cost of cover
We price on the risk and workload, not a standard rate card.
System size
Users, branches, database volume and modules decide routine effort.
Customization level
Heavily changed systems need more care at each upgrade.
Integrations
Every connected store, bank or courier adds items to watch.
Response expectations
Same-day cover costs more than next-business-day handling.
Hosting arrangement
Whether we manage servers or you do changes the scope.
Condition on arrival
A clean, documented system is cheaper to support than a neglected one.
Planned upgrades and version moves
Staying too far behind means unpatched security issues and a larger jump later.
We usually advise following a stable version a little behind the newest, after a staging test with your real data and customizations.
We list what is affected, test the critical flows, and schedule the cut-over for a quiet period.
The risks of ignoring this are covered in ERP implementation mistakes to avoid, and customised modules are easier to keep alive when built as described in how to customize ERP and CRM modules safely.
A typical month under a support plan
Anything unusual gets a ticket before users see it.
During the month we handle requests as they arrive, such as a new tax setting, a changed approval limit or a report that needs another column, and we record the time used against the agreed pool.
At the end we send the note: tickets, changes, risks and recommendations.
Where we see a pattern, such as the same question from different users, we suggest a training session or a small change that removes the cause.
Ways support goes wrong, and our safeguards
Weak support is usually a process failure, not a skill gap.
Single person dependency
Documentation and a second engineer on the account so nothing sits in one head.
Untested updates
All changes go to staging first, with a rollback plan.
Backups never restored
Scheduled restore tests to a separate machine.
Slow, unclear replies
Ticket system with severity levels and a first-response target in the agreement.
Unmanaged scope creep
Enhancement requests are logged, sized and approved before work starts.
Cases where a plan is the wrong purchase
If it is so broken that every month brings a new emergency, you need a rescue project first, and we will say so.
For one-off module work, our ERP module customization service is a better fit than a standing plan.
Sometimes the right investment is retraining, and we will recommend that when we see it.
Reporting, evidence and working hours
We measure support by facts you can check: tickets raised and closed, time to first response and resolution by severity, backup and restore test results, patches applied and open risks.
We do not claim uptime figures we cannot verify, and outages caused by your hosting provider are reported as such.
Ask about options for extended cover.
Related project work includes ERP integration & migration and sector systems such as hospital management systems.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
Can you support an ERP built by another company?
Yes, after a review of the code, database, servers and documentation. We report what we find and agree a plan before taking responsibility.
What happens when something breaks outside office hours?
The plan states the cover hours and how to raise urgent issues. For systems where downtime stops sales or shipping, we discuss extended cover options in advance.
Do support plans include new features?
Standard plans include a pool of time for small enhancements. Larger features are scoped as separate projects so cost and timeline are clear.
How often should an ERP be updated?
Security patches should be applied promptly after testing. Major version upgrades are planned events, usually once the new version is stable and a staging test has passed.
Will you help if we want to leave later?
Yes. Documentation, repository access and server details stay with you, so another provider or an in-house developer can take over.
Do you support Odoo and ERPNext as well as custom systems?
Yes. We maintain Odoo and ERPNext installations, including custom apps, alongside bespoke systems from Odoo ERP development and similar projects.
Can we start with a one-off health check?
Yes. A review of backups, security, performance and customizations gives you a risk list and a recommendation, without a long contract.
