WordPress maintenance & support so your site stays updated, backed up and working
Our WordPress maintenance & support service looks after live sites with scheduled updates, tested backups, uptime monitoring, security checks and a support desk for fixes and small changes. It suits businesses whose website brings in enquiries or orders but who have no in-house developer.
By Junaid Tariq · Reviewed October 2026
- Updates applied on a schedule, tested first and rolled back if they break something
- Backups stored off-site and restored in a drill, not assumed to work
- One support channel, with a named person who knows your site
A website is not finished at launch
A WordPress site depends on the core software, a theme, plugins, a PHP version and a server, and every one of those moves on its own schedule. Plugin authors release patches, hosts retire old PHP versions, browsers change how they treat scripts and spam bots probe forms around the clock.
A site left untouched for a year is usually carrying known vulnerabilities and some quietly broken features, and nobody finds out until a customer complains.
Maintenance is the routine that prevents those surprises. It is also the cheapest form of insurance a site owner can buy, because an hour spent on a staged update costs far less than a weekend spent recovering a hacked or crashed site. Support covers the other side: the small requests that come up every month, such as changing a banner, adding a staff member or fixing a form that stopped sending.
This service suits company websites, clinics, schools, agencies, news sites and online stores built by us or by someone else. We take over sites from other developers after an audit, so you do not need to rebuild to get help.
Monthly care, itemised
The exact list depends on the plan, but these are the building blocks.
- Core, theme and plugin updatesApplied in batches, first on staging for complex sites, with visual checks of key pages after each round.
- BackupsDaily or more frequent copies of files and database, kept off the server, with periodic restore tests.
- Uptime and performance monitoringAlerts when the site is down or slow, plus a monthly look at load behaviour.
- Security scanningMalware and file change scans, login attempt monitoring and removal of unused plugins and users.
- Broken link and form checksContact forms, booking forms and checkout flows tested so lost enquiries are caught early.
- Database and media housekeepingClearing revisions, spam comments and orphaned data that slow the admin.
- Small changes and fixesA monthly allowance of content edits, minor layout changes and troubleshooting requests.
- Monthly summaryA short report of what was updated, what was found and what we recommend next.

Onboarding an existing site
Onboarding is deliberately thorough, because most trouble comes from things nobody wrote down.
- Access and inventoryWe collect hosting, domain, WordPress and licence details and list everything installed.
- Health checkWe review versions, backups, security, speed and recent error logs, then report problems in order of seriousness.
- StabiliseCritical fixes go first: missing backups, outdated core, risky plugins and open admin accounts.
- Set the routineUpdate windows, monitoring and alert contacts are agreed and tested.
- Run and reportWork happens on schedule, tickets are answered and you receive a monthly summary.
- Review quarterlyWe look at whether the site still fits the business and suggest improvements without pressing for upsells.
Tools behind the service
We use standard, well-supported tools so you are never locked in.
Remote management dashboard
Central view of updates and versions across sites.
Backup service
Off-site, versioned copies with one-click restore.
Uptime monitor
Checks from several regions with alert routing to email or WhatsApp.
Staging environment
A copy of your site for safe testing of updates.
Security scanner
File integrity and malware scanning.
Search Console and GA4
Spot indexing errors and tracking breaks early.
Work outside the retainer
Clear boundaries stop disputes later.
Redesigns and new feature builds
These are scoped as projects, separate from the retainer.
Third-party outages
We can diagnose them, but we cannot fix a host or gateway outage.
Recovery from earlier neglect
Clean-up is quoted separately before routine care begins.
Factors behind the monthly retainer
We quote a fixed monthly arrangement after the health check. These factors decide it.
Site complexity
A ten-page brochure site and a membership store do not need the same attention.
Update frequency
Busy stores and sites with many plugins need more frequent, more careful updates.
Response expectations
Same-day fixes need more capacity than next-working-day help.
Volume of requested changes
Regular content edits and design tweaks add to the allowance.
Inherited condition
A neglected site needs a clean-up phase before routine care starts.
Compliance needs
Logging, access reviews and stricter backup rules add effort.
The quiet cost of neglect
A site runs happily for a year. A plugin falls out of date, a form stops sending because the mail setup changed, and a PHP upgrade by the host breaks a theme feature.
The cost shows up as missing enquiries, not an error message.
A scheduled form test, uptime alert and update log are boring on purpose. When they work, you never think about them.
Sites that can skip a retainer
If your site is a simple static page that nobody uses for business, annual attention may be enough.
When a theme is abandoned or the code is a patchwork from five developers, the sensible route may be a rebuild.
In that case, speak to us about website maintenance and support for non-WordPress platforms, or about website redesign services if the foundation is the problem.
Proof by method: what you can check each month
Each month you see a log of what was updated and when, backup timestamps, uptime figures from the monitoring tool and any security events.
You also keep ownership of every account, so if you ever leave, a clean handover is simple.
Clients in Pakistan can reach us by WhatsApp, and international clients are invoiced in USD.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
What happens if an update breaks my site?
On complex sites we test updates on staging first. On simpler sites we back up immediately before updating and check key pages afterwards. If something breaks, we roll back and investigate, so you are not left with a broken live site.
Do you maintain sites that were built by another developer?
Yes. We start with a health check and tell you about any code or plugin issues before taking responsibility. Some sites are fine as they are, others need clean-up first.
Are content changes included?
Most plans include a monthly allowance of small edits. Larger work, such as new page designs or features, is scoped separately so there are no surprises.
How quickly will you respond to problems?
Response targets depend on your plan and are written into the agreement. Urgent issues such as a site down or a checkout failure are treated ahead of routine requests.
Can you maintain a WooCommerce store?
Yes. Stores need extra care because updates can affect cart, checkout and payment gateways, so we test order flows after changes. Pakistani stores using cash on delivery and local gateways get those flows tested as well.
How do I start?
