App maintenance & support that keeps a live app stable after every OS update
Our app maintenance & support keeps published Android and iOS apps working: operating system updates, library upgrades, bug fixes, backend care, store policy changes and small feature requests. It suits owners whose app has launched and who need a team accountable for it, including apps we did not build.

A launched app is never finished
An app is built on moving ground. Google and Apple release new operating system versions every year, retire older interfaces and tighten rules on privacy, permissions and background activity.
Third-party libraries change or are abandoned. Payment providers update their SDKs. Your own business adds products, prices and offers. Left alone, an app slowly stops working: first on a few new phones, then on many.
Maintenance is how you stay ahead of that. It is also cheaper than emergency repair. A fix planned for a calm week costs less than a rebuild forced by a store removal notice or a broken checkout during a sale.
We maintain apps that we built, such as those in our Android and iOS work, and apps that other developers delivered and then disappeared from. In both cases the first step is a code and infrastructure review, so we know what we are taking responsibility for.
Included in a support plan
Plans are shaped to your app. These are the standard components.
- MonitoringCrash reporting, performance traces and API error alerts, so we hear about problems before reviews do.
- OS and device updatesTesting and adaptation for new Android and iOS releases and popular new devices.
- Dependency and security patchesLibrary updates, vulnerable package checks and SDK upgrades, with a regression test pass.
- Bug fixingTriage by severity with agreed response targets, reproduced on real devices.
- Store complianceUpdates for Google Play and App Store policy changes, privacy forms and target API requirements.
- Backend careServer updates, database health, backups and certificate renewals, linked to app backend and API development.
- Small improvementsA set number of hours each month for tweaks, copy changes and minor features.
- Monthly reportWhat changed, what broke, what we recommend next, and the numbers behind it.

A written scope and milestones before build, code and documentation handed over at the end and hosting or domain accounts kept in your name.
The cost of an app nobody owns
An agency delivers the app, the invoice is paid, and the team moves on. Months later, a store sends a policy warning to an old email address. A new phone model shows a broken layout.
Some of the hardest cases involve missing assets: signing keys that nobody kept, developer accounts registered in a former employee's name, repositories hosted on a personal profile.
If you own a live app today, check that you hold the store accounts, the signing credentials, the source code and the cloud logins. We can help you audit them.
Releases are small, tested and predictable, and the monthly report is short because little went wrong.

Taking over an app we did not build
Handover is where many apps are lost. We go in a deliberate order.
- Access and inventoryCollect repositories, store accounts, signing keys, cloud accounts, analytics and third-party service logins. Missing keys are the commonest blocker.
- Code and risk reviewAssess architecture, outdated libraries, security gaps, documentation and test coverage.
- StabiliseFix crashes and release blockers, set up monitoring and make the build reproducible.
- PlanAgree a roadmap: urgent patches, medium refactors and optional improvements.
- RoutineMove to monthly cycles with scheduled releases and reports.
Support tiers by need
Plan names vary, but apps tend to fall into these patterns.
Situation | Typical support shape | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Stable internal app | Monitoring and annual OS updates | Light, with ad hoc fixes |
Customer-facing app | Monthly updates, response targets, store compliance | Most common |
Revenue-critical app | Priority response, on-call windows, staging and release control | Include backend care |
Growing product | Support plus a development allowance | |
Legacy app | Stabilise first, then plan rebuild | Review before committing |
Planning the budget without guesswork
What increases it: more platforms, older code, many third-party SDKs, heavy backend integration, tight response times, hardware features, and how often you want releases.
Our article on software maintenance budgeting explains how to think about it, and the app store publishing checklist shows the recurring requirements stores place on live apps.
We pair every plan with a written scope of what is covered, how requests are made and how urgent issues are handled, so there are no surprises when something breaks at an awkward hour.
Typical emergencies and our response
Examples of problems that bring owners to us late, and what we do.
App removed or warned by a store
We read the policy notice, correct the app or listing, and submit the response. We cannot guarantee reinstatement.
Crash after a phone update
Reproduce on the affected version, patch and release a hotfix through a staged rollout.
Payments failing
Check gateway changes, SDK versions and server logs, restore service, and add alerting for the next time.
Developer left, no code
Locate repositories and keys, recover builds from the store listing if needed, and plan a rebuild when the source is gone.
Slow app after growth
Profile the API and database, add caching and indexes, and trim heavy screens.
Security finding
Rotate keys, patch the issue, review for exposure, and advise on notification duties with your legal counsel.
Cases where a support plan is the wrong purchase
We tell you honestly when a rebuild, perhaps in Flutter or native, would cost less over two years than repeated repair.
We measure support by response and resolution times against the agreed targets, crash-free session trends, release cadence and the open backlog. Those numbers appear in the monthly report.
If you want the interface improved at the same time, our mobile app UI/UX design team can help.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
What happens if I do not update my app for a year?
It may keep running, but new devices and OS versions can expose crashes and layout problems. Stores can also require newer target versions or privacy declarations before accepting updates, and old dependencies gather security issues. Catching up later is usually more costly than regular care.
Can you maintain an app another agency built?
Yes, after a review. We need repository access, store accounts and backend credentials. If key assets are missing, we explain the options before you commit.
Do you offer emergency support?
Yes, under plans with priority response windows. Coverage hours should be agreed up front, since we work from Lahore and overlap with UK, Gulf and US business hours.
Is a monthly plan required?
No. Some clients prefer hourly or project-based fixes. A plan gives faster response and planned updates, which is why most live customer-facing apps use one.
Do you maintain the backend and hosting too?
Yes. App problems are often server problems. We can cover API, database, hosting, backups and renewals, or work with your current provider.
How do I start?
Send us your store links and a list of known issues through the contact page. We will run a short review and propose a plan.
