React Native app development that ships iOS and Android together

We build mobile apps with React Native so one team and one codebase deliver both iPhone and Android versions. It suits startups, retailers and service companies that want a polished app in both stores without paying for two separate builds.

One app, two stores, and the honest limits

React Native lets developers write the app in JavaScript or TypeScript while the screens render as real native components on each phone. For most business apps, such as ordering, bookings, memberships, loyalty, field tools and content, this feels like a native app to the user while costing a good deal less to build and maintain than two separate apps.

The saving is real but not magic. Shared code typically covers the bulk of the app. Platform differences, device features and store rules still need attention, and some jobs, such as heavy 3D, advanced camera processing or deep background services, may call for native code. We tell you early which category your idea falls in.

We recommend React Native most often to three groups. Founders who need both platforms on a limited budget. Companies with a web team in JavaScript who want to reuse skills and some logic. And businesses that already have a website or API and need a mobile front end to it. Our comparison in Flutter vs React Native vs native explains the alternatives.

Apps that suit this approach

Typical projects where a shared codebase is the right trade.

Retail and ordering apps

Catalogues, carts, saved addresses and order tracking. See also ecommerce mobile app development.

Booking and service apps

Appointments, jobs and technician visits, close to the on-demand service app model.

Membership and loyalty apps

Cards, points, offers and renewals for gyms, clinics, salons and clubs.

Field and staff tools

Checklists, photo capture, offline forms, location check-ins and approvals for teams on the move.

Content and community apps

Articles, video, chat and notifications for publishers and communities.

Companion apps

A mobile layer for an existing web platform, CRM or portal, reusing your APIs.

Performance, updates and the native question

People worry that a cross-platform app will feel sluggish.

In practice, list scrolling, forms, maps and animations in a well-built React Native app are smooth on current phones, and the trouble comes from careless work: huge images, screens that re-render for no reason, and long lists without virtualisation.

We profile on mid-range Android devices, because that is where problems show first and where many Pakistani users are.
Updates are another practical point.

Small JavaScript fixes can sometimes be sent to users without a new store release, within the platforms' rules, which shortens the time between finding a bug and fixing it.

Larger changes, new native modules and OS upgrades still go through the stores, and we plan a maintenance rhythm for them.
When a feature truly needs native code, we write a native module and keep it behind a clean interface.

The rest of the app stays shared. That hybrid approach is how most serious React Native products live.

Deliverables in a typical build

The proposal lists these per project, so you know what the price covers.

  • Product definitionUser stories, screen list and a prioritized first release, so the build stays focused.
  • UI and UX designWireframes and visual design for iOS and Android conventions, with an interactive prototype you can test on a phone.
  • App developmentReact Native with TypeScript, structured navigation, state management and reusable components.
  • Backend and API workNew APIs where needed, or integration with your existing system, including authentication and data security.
  • Push notificationsFirebase Cloud Messaging and Apple notifications, with segments and permission prompts that respect users.
  • Native featuresCamera, maps, biometrics, payments, deep links and offline storage, with native modules when libraries fall short.
  • Testing and qualityDevice testing across screen sizes and OS versions, automated checks and a bug-fix window after release.
  • Store releaseApple App Store and Google Play accounts, listings, screenshots, privacy forms, signing and submission.

Build timeline, sprint by sprint

The sequence is steady across projects. The length depends on scope.

  1. Discovery and scopeGoals, users, must-have features and technical constraints are written down and agreed.
  2. Design sprintKey flows are prototyped and tested with a few real users before development begins.
  3. Foundation buildProject setup, authentication, navigation, API layer and release pipeline.
  4. Feature sprintsTwo-week cycles with a testable build delivered through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing.
  5. StabilizationPerformance tuning, accessibility checks, crash fixing and security review.
  6. Launch and early supportStore submission, staged rollout and close watch of crash and usage data for the first weeks.

Working with us from Lahore

Our team works from Gulberg III in Lahore, and your product owner gets a named lead developer rather than a rotating cast.

We hold a weekly demo on a time that suits you, whether you are in London, Dubai, Toronto or Sydney, and keep a shared board where every task, bug and decision is visible.

Accounts for the stores, cloud services and analytics are opened in your company name.

Source code lives in your repository from the first day, so you are never dependent on us to access your own product.

Stack and tooling

Choices are made per project, but this is our usual starting point.

Layer
Common choice
Purpose
Framework
React Native with Expo or bare workflow
Shared app code, faster builds and updates
Language
TypeScript
Fewer runtime errors and clearer code for handover
State and data
Redux Toolkit or React Query
Predictable screens and cached server data
Backend
Node.js, Laravel or ASP.NET Core APIs
Business logic, authentication, storage
Notifications and analytics
Firebase, Crashlytics
Messaging, usage data, crash reports
Release
EAS or Fastlane, GitHub Actions
Repeatable builds and store delivery

Quote and schedule drivers

App cost is driven by scope, not by platform alone.

The number of distinct screens, how much custom design you want, the depth of the backend, third-party integrations such as payments, maps or ERP, and requirements like offline mode, chat or live tracking all change the effort.

Existing assets help: an API that already works can save weeks, while a missing backend adds a full workstream.
We quote a defined first release, usually a minimum lovable product, and keep a backlog for later phases.

Fixed-scope or monthly team models are both possible.

International clients are invoiced in USD, and we work from Lahore with overlap into UK, Gulf and US hours.

If you have an idea but no spec, we start with a short paid discovery. Reach us through the contact page.

Situations where we would pick something else

If your app is mostly marketing content, a fast mobile website or progressive web app may do the job with no store approval.

If it depends on unusual device features, native Swift or Kotlin can be the safer path.

And if the product is a small internal tool for one platform, a simpler approach may be cheaper.
For an online store, check whether a well-tuned mobile site comes first.

Our ASP.NET ecommerce development and Shopify app development pages cover store platforms that an app can sit on top of.

Marketplace-style products with several user types, such as a food delivery app, need more backend than a single-role app, and that should shape your budget.

Proof by method: how we show the app works

Before release you receive a test summary covering devices, OS versions and the acceptance list.

After release we track crash-free sessions, startup time, key funnel steps such as sign-up and checkout, and store feedback. You see the same dashboards we do.

We cannot promise downloads, since that depends on marketing and product fit.

We can tie the app to acquisition: install campaigns run through paid media, deep links from websites and tracked events that show which channel brought each user. That is the evidence that shows the app is earning its keep.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you get in touch.

Is React Native as good as a fully native app?

For most business apps, users cannot tell the difference. For apps with intense graphics, complex background processing or unusual hardware features, native code may be better. We assess your needs before recommending.

Can you build one app for both iPhone and Android?

Yes, that is the main point of React Native. The majority of code is shared, and we handle platform-specific details and store requirements for each.

Who publishes the app on the stores?

Ideally you, through your own developer accounts, with us handling the technical submission. That way the app and its listing belong to your company. Check Apple and Google's current account requirements, since they change.

Can you reuse our existing website or API?

Often yes. If you have a stable API, the app can use it. If not, we can build one, and share logic with a web front end when it makes sense.

How do you handle app updates after launch?

Most changes go through new store releases. Some JavaScript changes can be delivered over the air within store rules. We plan a maintenance schedule for OS updates, security patches and library upgrades.

What about push notifications and WhatsApp?

Push is built in. WhatsApp is not part of the app, but we can link to chats or connect the WhatsApp Business platform on the backend. For service ideas see our on-demand service apps guide.
