WordPress website cost in Pakistan: what drives the price and where money is wasted

WordPress website cost in Pakistan depends on seven things: how custom the design is, the number of templates and pages, functionality such as ecommerce or booking, content preparation, integrations, hosting and security, and ongoing care. Two sites that look alike can differ widely in price because of what sits behind the pages.

By Junaid Tariq Updated October 2026

Key takeaways
  • Price follows scope: templates, features, integrations and content, not page count alone.
  • A premium theme with Elementor and a fully custom theme are different products with different costs.
  • Hosting, domain, licences and maintenance are recurring costs that belong in the budget.
  • The cheapest quote often leaves out content, speed work, security and handover.

Why quotes for the same site vary so much

Ask five agencies for a WordPress site and you will get five numbers that look unrelated. That is not always dishonesty. WordPress is a toolkit, and the same brief can be met with a ready-made theme and a page builder, a semi-custom build, or a hand-coded theme with custom post types. Each route produces a working website. They differ in design freedom, speed, maintenance and what happens when you want to change something in two years.

The second source of variation is what the quote includes. One vendor counts only design and installation. Another includes copywriting, image sourcing, SEO setup, speed tuning, security, training and a month of support. If you compare two numbers without comparing two scopes, you are comparing nothing.

We will not print a price list in a blog post because it would mislead you. A number detached from your requirements is a guess. What we can do is show you the factors that move cost up or down so that you can judge any quote, ours included.

The main cost drivers and how they move the price

Read each row as a dial. Turning it up raises effort, and so cost.

Theme route: ready-made, Elementor or fully custom

A ready-made theme is the fastest and most affordable start. You choose a design, replace the content and adjust settings. The trade-off is that you inherit the theme's code, including features you never use, and a design that other sites may share. That is fine for many small businesses, provided the theme is well maintained.

Elementor and similar builders sit in the middle. They give you far more layout freedom and let your team edit pages visually. The cost is in the build time per template and in discipline, since a careless Elementor site can become heavy. Our Elementor website development page explains how we keep these builds fast. The wider decision is covered in Elementor vs custom WordPress theme.

A fully custom theme costs more to build because a developer writes the templates from scratch. In return you get cleaner code, fewer plugins, a lighter front end and a design that exactly fits your content. It makes sense for larger sites, brands with strict design systems, or sites expected to grow for years. See custom WordPress theme development for what that involves.

Items people forget to budget for

These rarely appear in the first conversation and often appear in the first invoice dispute.

Domain and hosting

Annual renewals, plus the quality of the host. Cheap shared hosting can cost you in speed and uptime.

Premium plugin licences

Page builders, forms, SEO, security and backup tools often renew yearly. Ask which ones your site needs.

Content and images

Someone has to write, translate and compress. Without it the site launches with placeholder text.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Image handling, caching and script control take real time. See WordPress speed optimization.

Security and backups

Hardening, firewalls and off-site backups. Our security hardening covers this.

Maintenance

Updates, monitoring and small changes after launch, usually under a maintenance plan.

How to get a quote you can compare

A short process that makes every vendor answer the same questions.

  1. Write a one-page briefList your goal, audience, pages, must-have features and examples of sites you like. Note whether you need Urdu.
  2. List who supplies whatMark content, logo, photos, copy and product data as yours or the agency's.
  3. Ask for the scope in writingA proper quote names templates, features, revisions, plugins, hosting setup and launch tasks.
  4. Ask what is excludedSpeed work, SEO setup, security and training are common omissions.
  5. Ask about ownershipYou should own the domain, hosting account and files. Confirm it before paying.
  6. Compare handover and supportAfter launch, who fixes bugs, for how long and at what response time?

Pakistan-specific cost factors

Local conditions shape a project in practical ways. Hosting location matters: a server near your customers loads faster, so a Pakistani business serving Pakistan may choose a regional data centre, while one targeting the USA or UK may pick a host in those regions. Domain and hosting for local firms are often paid in rupees, while many international tools and plugins bill in dollars, so exchange rates affect your recurring costs.

Bilingual sites add work. Urdu typography, right-to-left layouts, font loading and translated content all take testing. If you plan an online shop, local payment gateways and cash on delivery flows add integration time; our WooCommerce development page covers those choices.

Working with a Lahore-based team also means you can pay in rupees or dollars depending on your setup, meet in person in Gulberg III by arrangement, and reach us during Pakistani business hours that overlap with the UAE and UK. Overseas clients get the same delivery process over video and WhatsApp.

Reading a proposal line by line

Once quotes arrive, read them like a contract. Look for named deliverables: how many unique templates, which plugins, whether forms, a blog, a multilingual setup and tracking are included. Vague lines such as 'full website' or 'SEO friendly' are where scope arguments begin, because each side imagines something different.

Check how revisions work. Some agencies allow a fixed number of rounds, others bill by the hour after launch. Neither is wrong, but you should know which you are signing. Ask also about the project timeline and what you must deliver to keep it moving. Most delays come from late content and slow approvals on the client side, and a good proposal says so honestly.

Finally, look at who will do the work. A studio with in-house designers, developers and a project manager gives a different experience from a single freelancer, and both can be right for different budgets. What you want is a clear name responsible for each part, and a route to reach them after launch. Our team works from Gulberg III, Lahore, with 500+ websites delivered behind it, and we put the scope in writing before work starts.

Where money is usually wasted

Patterns we see when we are asked to rescue a site.

  • Paying for design before strategyA pretty site without a clear offer, page plan and calls to action does not convert.
  • Too many pluginsEach plugin adds code, update risk and speed cost. Prefer fewer, better ones.
  • Nulled themes and pluginsPirated software often carries malware. The saving is not worth the cleanup.
  • No staging siteMaking changes on the live site invites downtime.
  • Ignoring mobile and speedMost visitors are on phones; slow pages leak enquiries.
  • No handoverIf only the developer knows the logins and setup, you are locked in.

Junaid’s take, from experience

Junaid's take

In my experience, the wrong budget is the one that pays for launch and forgets the following year. A WordPress site is not a printed brochure. It needs updates, backups, small content changes and a plan for growth. I would rather see a business spend slightly less on the initial build and reserve something for the first twelve months of care.

If you are a small local business, start with a good theme, a clean Elementor build and solid hosting. If you are a growing company with a real content engine or custom features, invest in a proper custom theme. Do not buy custom because it sounds premium, and do not buy a template because it sounds cheap.

Send me your brief through the contact page and we will tell you which route fits and what the main cost drivers are, before any commitment. If you are redesigning an existing site, see our WordPress website design approach first.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you get in touch.

What drives the price of a WordPress website, and why is there no fixed list?

Because the work varies: design depth, features, content and integrations differ for every project. A fixed price list only works if the scope is fixed. We quote after seeing your brief, then list exactly what is included.

Is WordPress cheaper than other platforms in Pakistan?

The core software is free, and there are many developers, so options are wide. But total cost still depends on design, hosting, plugins and maintenance. Compare running costs over a few years, not only the build.

Do I need to pay for hosting separately?

Usually yes. Hosting, domain and some plugin licences are recurring costs separate from the build fee. Some agencies bundle them; make sure you still own the accounts.

Can I reduce cost by supplying my own content?

Yes. Ready text, product data and photos reduce time and money, and they usually produce a better site because you know your business best. We can edit and structure what you supply.

What is the cheapest way to start without regret?

Begin with a well-supported theme, a clear page plan and good hosting, then grow. Avoid heavy customisation until you know what visitors do. If you later outgrow it, a WordPress redesign is straightforward.
