Shopify app development that fits how your store really runs
We design and build Shopify apps, both private apps for a single store and public apps for the Shopify App Store, so your store gets the exact feature, integration or workflow that off-the-shelf apps cannot provide. It suits merchants with unusual processes and software companies that want to sell to Shopify merchants.

- Clean hand-over: source code, documentation and a support window you can rely on
- Delivery from Lahore with overlap for US, UK and Gulf business hours
Merchants and founders a custom app suits
Most stores should install an existing app and move on. A custom build only makes sense when the available apps fall short in a way that costs you money or time.
Typical triggers are a wholesale price rule that no app handles, a courier or ERP system that has no connector, a loyalty scheme with unusual rules, or a back-office team copying orders into a spreadsheet every morning.
The second group is software founders. If you have a tool that merchants would pay for, such as a bundling engine, a delivery slot picker or a returns portal, you need a public app that passes Shopify's review, handles installs and uninstalls properly and bills through Shopify's own billing system. That is a different project from a private integration, with its own security, scalability and support burden.
A third group is agencies and brands running several stores who want one internal app to keep products, stock or customer tags aligned. We build for all three, and we will tell you early if an existing app, a Shopify Flow automation or a small theme change would do the job for much less effort.
A practical example: a Lahore apparel brand selling to retail customers and to shops in several cities might want dealer pricing that changes by order size, a separate payment-terms field and a weekly stock export for its warehouse. No single app does all three the way the team works. A small private app that reads the order webhook, applies the rules and writes the export is cheaper over time than three subscriptions that never quite fit. The question is always whether the saving is real after you count upkeep.
Deliverables for a custom app
Scope is written down before development starts, so you know what the first release contains.
- Discovery and written scopeA short specification covering user roles, data flow, the Shopify APIs involved and what is deliberately left out of version one.
- App architectureHosting, database, queue and webhook design, planned for the store's order volume and for Shopify's API rate limits.
- Admin interfaceAn embedded admin experience built with Shopify's recommended tools, so merchants and staff use it inside the Shopify admin.
- Storefront extensionsTheme app extensions or checkout-related extensions where the feature has to appear to customers, installed without editing theme code by hand.
- Webhooks and background jobsReliable handling of orders, products, customers and app uninstall events, with retries and logging.
- Authentication and data protectionOAuth install flow, scoped permissions requested only where needed, and handling of customer data in line with Shopify's data requirements.
- Testing and review preparationDevelopment-store testing, and for public apps, preparation for Shopify's app review, listing assets and privacy documentation.
- Hand-overRepository access, deployment notes, environment variables documented and a walkthrough call with your team.

Transparent by default
A written scope and milestones before build, code and documentation handed over at the end and hosting or domain accounts kept in your name.
From idea to a working app
A typical build runs in stages, each ending in something you can click through.
- Scoping workshopWe map the manual process or product idea, check whether an existing app already covers it and agree what version one must do.
- Technical designAPI choices, data model, hosting and the permissions the app will request. You receive this as a short document before code is written.
- Prototype on a development storeA thin working slice of the main flow, so you can judge the idea on a real store before the full build.
- Full buildAdmin screens, background jobs, extensions and integrations, delivered in reviewable increments.
- Testing and hardeningEdge cases such as partial refunds, edited orders, bulk imports and app reinstalls, plus load tests against realistic volumes.
- Launch and monitoringPrivate apps are installed on the live store. Public apps go through review, then to listing. Error alerts are set up from day one.

Technology we use
The stack depends on the app type and your team's habits.
Layer | Typical choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
App backend | Node.js with Shopify's app tooling, or Laravel / PHP where your team already uses it | Matches the skills you can maintain later |
Admin UI | React with Polaris components | Looks and behaves like the native Shopify admin |
Data access | GraphQL Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks | Efficient queries and event-driven updates |
Storefront | Theme app extensions, checkout extensions | Feature appears without editing theme files |
Database and queues | PostgreSQL or MySQL, Redis for jobs | Reliable background processing for bulk work |
Hosting and logs | Managed cloud hosting, error tracking, uptime alerts | Problems found before merchants report them |
Factors that shape the quote
We quote only after the scope call. These are the factors that move effort up or down.
Private or public
A public app adds review preparation, billing, onboarding and support tooling that a private app does not need.
Number of integrations
Each outside system, such as an ERP, courier or accounting tool, brings its own API quirks and test cycle.
Data volume
Stores that process large order or catalogue volumes need queue design and careful rate-limit handling.
Storefront and checkout work
Customer-facing features need design, theme compatibility checks and more device testing.
Support expectations
A defined support window or retainer after launch changes how we plan monitoring and updates.
Your internal team
If your developers will own the code later, we write for them and spend more on documentation and hand-over.
Cases where a custom app is the wrong move
A monthly subscription is cheaper than building and maintaining code, and Shopify changes its APIs on a regular schedule, so every custom app carries an ongoing upgrade cost. Be honest about whether you will pay for that upkeep.
We also advise against building when the real problem is a slow or cluttered store, which is better handled through Shopify speed optimization, or when the need is a one-off data job that a script can do.
Our guide to what to build first in an MVP applies here as well.
Proof by method and support
Every project has a written scope, a staging store where you test, a changelog and a logged list of webhooks and jobs so failures are visible.
Our wider work on plugin development and API development and integration feeds into this service, so the code you receive follows habits tested on many platforms.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
What is the difference between a custom app and a public app?
A custom (private) app is built for one store or one merchant group and never appears in the App Store. A public app is listed for any merchant to install, so it must pass Shopify's review, support many stores and handle billing. The engineering effort is quite different.
Can you build an app that connects Shopify to my ERP or courier system?
Yes, this is one of the most common requests. We read the API of the other system first, because poor documentation or limited access can decide the design. Local couriers sometimes offer only basic APIs, so we plan for fallbacks. See our API development and integration work.
How long does a Shopify app take to build?
A focused private app with one integration takes much less time than a public app with onboarding, billing and a review process. We give a timeline after scoping, with milestones, and we avoid fixed dates until the requirements are written.
Do I own the code?
For private apps built for your store, yes, unless a different arrangement is written into the contract. For public apps you will agree ownership and licensing terms up front. Either way you receive repository access and documentation.
Will the app slow down my store?
Well-built apps use theme app extensions and load only what they need. Admin-only apps do not touch storefront speed at all. We check the impact on page speed before release, and our Shopify speed fixes guide shows what else affects it.
What happens when Shopify changes its API?
Shopify versions its APIs and retires old versions on a schedule, so apps need periodic updates. We can monitor announcements and update your app under a support plan, or hand the work to your own team with clear notes.
