Magento third-party integration that keeps your systems agreeing with each other
We provide Magento third-party integration, connecting Magento stores to ERP, accounting, CRM, warehouse, payment, courier and marketing systems through APIs and middleware, with logging and retry handling so data stays in sync. It suits merchants whose teams still copy orders, stock and customer data between tools by hand.

- Source of truth agreed for every data type before code is written
- Queues, retries and error logs so failures are visible, not silent
- Tested against realistic order and catalogue volumes
The cost of disconnected systems
A Magento store rarely stands alone. Orders have to reach a warehouse or ERP, stock has to flow back, invoices have to land in accounting, customers need to be known to the CRM and couriers need consignments.
When these links are manual, errors appear: overselling because stock is out of date, delayed dispatch because an order was missed, finance spending days reconciling.
Integration fixes this, but only when it is designed carefully. The classic failure is two systems that both think they own the product price or the stock count. Updates collide, and nobody can say which number is right. Before building, we decide which system is the source of truth for each type of data, and how conflicts are handled.
We also keep in mind that Magento is a heavy application. Integrations that run synchronously during checkout can slow or break the sale. Where possible we push work into queues and cron jobs so the customer never waits on someone else's server.
There is a practical Pakistani angle too. Local couriers, payment gateways and accounting tools do not always offer modern, well-documented APIs, and some change formats without notice. We design for that: strict validation of what comes back, clear logs, and a manual fallback when a partner system fails, so your team can keep dispatching while the connection is repaired.
Systems we commonly connect
Choice of approach depends on what each system offers.
System type | Typical data flow | Method |
|---|---|---|
ERP and accounting | Orders, stock, prices, invoices | REST or SOAP API, middleware, scheduled sync |
Warehouse and fulfilment | Order release, tracking, stock levels | API or file exchange |
Couriers and shipping | Rates, labels, consignment numbers, status | Carrier API, custom shipping module |
Payment gateways | Authorisation, capture, refunds, callbacks | Gateway SDK or API module |
CRM and email | Customers, orders, segments | API, webhooks |
Marketplaces and feeds | Listings, stock, orders | Feed export and order import |

Deliverables of an integration
Documents and working components, not only code.
- Integration specificationData fields, direction of flow, triggers, frequency and error rules, signed off by your team and the system owners.
- Custom module or middlewareA maintainable Magento module, or a separate integration service where the logic is large, built to Magento coding standards.
- Queues and retriesFailed messages are retried and logged, rather than lost, with alerting for repeated failures.
- Mapping and transformationProduct, tax, unit and status codes translated between systems and documented.
- Admin visibilityA simple screen or report showing sync status and failures, so staff do not need developer help to check.
- Test casesOrders with discounts, partial shipments, cancellations, returns and bulk imports tested against sandbox systems.
- Documentation and handoverConfiguration notes, credentials management and runbooks for support staff. See also Magento module development best practices.

An integration build in stages
Each step has an output that someone outside development can check.
- DiscoveryWe interview the people who use each system, review the API documentation and note limits, authentication and test environments.
- Data and flow designWe draw the flows, define the source of truth for each data type and agree edge cases such as cancelled and edited orders.
- PrototypeA thin end-to-end slice, such as a single order flowing to the ERP and status returning, proves the connection works.
- Build and testFull integration is built against sandboxes with logging, retries and alerts, then tested with realistic data.
- Parallel runFor critical flows we run the integration alongside the manual process for a short period and compare results.
- Go-live and supportControlled release, monitoring of the first live transactions and a support period for corrections.
Integration cost sits mostly in the other system
Integration cost is mostly about the other system, not Magento.
API quality
A well-documented modern API is cheap to connect. Poor or missing APIs may need file exchange or a middleware layer.
Number of data flows
Orders only is simple. Orders, stock, prices, customers and returns in both directions is a larger project.
Volume and frequency
Real-time sync for high order volume needs queue design. Nightly batch is simpler.
Business rules
Special pricing, tax, multi-warehouse and multi-currency logic take time to map.
Sandbox access
Without a test environment on the other side, testing is slower and riskier.
Support level
Monitoring and a response commitment after launch are planned separately.
Cases against integrating everything
If you ship a few orders a day, a simple export and import may serve you well for now, and the saved budget can go into getting traffic.
Do not build bespoke connectors when a maintained extension already exists for a popular system, since you inherit the update burden. And do not connect a system that is about to be replaced.
An integration will copy bad product codes and stock counts faithfully and at speed. We often start with data clean-up before connecting anything.
For businesses in the middle of platform change, look at Magento migration services first.
Evidence, reporting and delivery
We prove an integration with reconciliation: a sample of orders traced from the store to the ERP and back, stock counts compared across systems, and a log showing retries and failures.
Many Pakistani merchants need local courier and payment systems connected, and we handle the limited or inconsistent APIs these sometimes offer, including fallbacks.
Related work includes Magento B2B commerce development, API development and integration and ERP development.
API keys and tokens are stored outside the code, access is limited to the scopes each integration needs, and personal data is passed only where the receiving system requires it.
Integration readiness checklist
Gather these before the scoping call and the quote will be sharper.
- List of systemsNames and versions of ERP, accounting, warehouse, courier and CRM tools in use.
- API accessDocumentation, test credentials and a contact at each vendor.
- Data ownersThe person who decides product, price and stock rules for each system.
- Current manual stepsHow orders, stock and invoices move between teams today.
- Volume and peaksTypical daily orders and sale-season peaks.
- Pain pointsThe errors that cost you most now, such as oversells or late dispatch.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
Can you integrate Magento with my ERP?
Usually yes, provided the ERP has an API, a database access route or a reliable file exchange. We review the options during discovery and recommend the safest. Our ERP development team also builds custom ERPs.
Should integration run in real time or in batches?
It depends on the data. Stock and order status often benefit from near-real-time updates, while prices and catalogue changes can run on a schedule. We balance freshness against load and complexity.
What happens if the other system is down?
Messages wait in a queue and are retried, so orders are not lost. Repeated failures raise an alert, and staff can see what is pending.
Can you connect local Pakistani couriers?
Yes, where the courier offers an API or a structured booking process. Quality varies, so we plan fallbacks like batch uploads. Check our shipping and courier plugin development page.
Will integrations slow the store?
Not if built properly. Heavy work runs in background jobs, and the checkout does not wait for slow external calls. We test performance with the integration active.
Who maintains the integration afterward?
You can choose a support plan with us or take the documentation to your own team. Either way, API changes by third parties mean integrations need periodic attention.
