Symfony development for applications built to last a decade
We provide Symfony development for businesses that need complex, long-lived PHP applications with strict structure: enterprise portals, data-heavy platforms and APIs. It suits teams that value predictable architecture and a clear upgrade path over speed of the first prototype.

- Clear handover so your in-house team can continue
The case for Symfony
Symfony is a set of reusable PHP components and a full-stack framework built on them. Many other PHP tools, including parts of Laravel and Drupal, use those components internally.
It is known for explicit configuration, dependency injection, strict conventions and a release policy with long-term-support versions, which is why larger organisations and long-running products often choose it.
That strictness has a price. A Symfony project asks for more setup and more deliberate decisions than a quick Laravel build, and the learning curve is real. The reward is code where responsibilities are clearly separated, which becomes valuable when many developers touch the system over years.
We recommend it when the application will be big, when business rules are intricate, or when your in-house team already knows it. When speed to market is the priority, we may suggest custom PHP development on a lighter framework instead. Our CodeIgniter vs Laravel vs Symfony comparison sets the options side by side.
Typical Symfony projects
Where the framework's structure earns its keep.
Enterprise portals
Multi-department systems with granular permissions, workflows and audit needs.
Data-intensive platforms
Import pipelines, reporting engines and admin tools handling large record sets.
API platforms
Back ends serving mobile apps and partners, built with API Platform or custom serializers.
Content and commerce on Symfony
Sites using Sylius, Sulu or similar projects built on the framework.
Legacy takeovers
Existing Symfony 2 or 3 applications that need careful upgrading to supported versions.
Microservice components
Focused services that share a clear contract with a larger system.
Why trust this team with your build
For Symfony Development, projects live or die on maintainability. Here is what stands behind the delivery.
Hands-on experience
500+ websites and web applications delivered over 18+ years for clients in 48 countries, the experience behind your Symfony Development project.
Certified expertise
For Symfony Development, engineering is planned together with SEO, speed and reporting, so what ships is findable, fast and measurable rather than just finished.
Recognised work
Led by Junaid Tariq, a National Level Award Winner in Digital Marketing who also builds WordPress plugins, CRMs and web applications. See the about page.
Transparent by default
A written scope and milestones before build, code and documentation handed over at the end and hosting or domain accounts kept in your name.
Scope of a Symfony engagement
What we typically deliver.
- Architecture documentBundles, services, boundaries and data flow explained so new developers can orient themselves.
- Doctrine data layerEntities, repositories and migrations designed with indexing and query behaviour in mind.
- Security configurationAuthenticators, voters and access rules tied to your roles.
- Forms and validationReusable form types and constraints that keep rules consistent across screens and APIs.
- Messenger and background workQueued handlers for emails, imports and integrations with retry behaviour.
- Quality toolingPHPUnit tests, PHPStan or Psalm static analysis and coding standards enforced in CI.
- Deployment pipelineRepeatable builds, environment configuration and release notes.

A Symfony codebase in daily use
Controllers stay thin and call services. Services depend on interfaces, not concrete classes, so a payment provider or mailer can be swapped in tests.
Entities hold data and invariants, repositories hold queries, and configuration sits in YAML or PHP files rather than scattered across code.
A new developer joining in year four should be able to find the pricing rule, change it and run the tests in an afternoon.
That is only possible when the original team resisted shortcuts, wrote tests around the rules that matter and kept the architecture document alive.
We also pay attention to the unglamorous layers: logging that names the request and user, health-check endpoints, sensible cache settings and an environment configuration that does not rely on one developer's laptop.
Symfony compared with the alternatives
A plain summary of the trade-offs, not a ranking.
Framework | Strength | Consider it when |
|---|---|---|
Symfony | Structure, components, long-term support | Large applications, strict teams, long lifespans |
Laravel | Developer speed, rich ecosystem | SaaS products, fast delivery, Laravel development skills in the team |
CodeIgniter | Light and simple | Small apps and modest hosting, see CodeIgniter development |
CakePHP | Convention-driven CRUD speed | Admin-heavy systems, see CakePHP development |
Plain PHP | Total control | Tiny single-purpose tools only |
Delivery approach
Slower to begin, steadier to continue.
- Domain discoveryWe learn the vocabulary and rules of your business and record them as a shared glossary.
- Architecture and standardsFolder layout, naming, testing strategy and review rules are agreed before feature work.
- Walking skeletonA thin end-to-end slice goes live on staging early to prove deployment and the main data path.
- Feature incrementsFeatures follow in reviewed, tested increments with demos.
- HardeningPerformance profiling, security review and upgrade checks precede launch.
- Handover and supportDocumentation, training and optional retained support for your developers.
Upgrades and long-term ownership
Symfony publishes a predictable release cycle with long-term-support versions, and its deprecation layer tells you what will break before it does.
We write code against that discipline: no reliance on internal classes, deprecations fixed as they appear, and dependencies chosen with maintenance activity in mind.
We read the dependency tree, test coverage and deprecation warnings, then outline a staged path to a supported version.
Our practice for older PHP is described in how to upgrade to PHP 8 safely, and the service wrapper is PHP code audit and optimization.
Quote and timeline factors
Symfony projects are quoted after discovery.
Domain complexity
Intricate rules need more modelling and testing than simple CRUD.
Team involvement
If your developers work with ours, we adjust process and documentation.
Existing code
Greenfield is predictable. Upgrades depend on how much deprecated code exists.
Integrations
Each external system adds adapters and failure handling.
Quality gates
Stricter testing and analysis add effort now and save it later.
Hosting setup
Containers and pipelines need DevOps time.
Working model for local and overseas teams
We join your channels, follow your branching and review rules where you have them, and write pull request descriptions that explain intent.
Contracts and invoices are in USD, and non-disclosure terms are available on request through our NDA page. Start the conversation on the contact page.
Projects better served by another framework
A startup racing to validate an idea in a few weeks will usually move faster on a lighter stack, and a content site belongs on a CMS.
We also advise against it when nobody on the future team knows PHP frameworks well, because a strict structure is hard to maintain without people who appreciate it.
Those three answers decide the choice more than technical fashion.
Measuring what we deliver
We report quality through artefacts you can inspect: the test suite, the static analysis report, the deployment log and the defect tracker.
Application metrics such as response time, error rate and queue length are set up in monitoring on your infrastructure, so you see actual behaviour instead of a presentation.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
Is Symfony harder to learn than Laravel?
It asks for more up-front configuration and understanding of concepts like dependency injection. Many developers find it easier to maintain once learned. The right choice depends on your team.
Can you upgrade our old Symfony application?
Yes. We audit first, then upgrade in stages through supported versions, fixing deprecations and adding tests around risky areas. A full rebuild is only recommended when the code is beyond rescue.
Do you build APIs with Symfony?
Yes, including REST and JSON-LD APIs. For general API work, see PHP API development.
Will our own developers be able to continue the project?
That is the aim. We follow framework conventions, document decisions and run code reviews with your people if you wish.
Can Symfony and WordPress or Laravel coexist?
Yes. Systems can share data through APIs or a database, and we have to plan authentication and ownership of records carefully. We advise on the cleanest split.
How does Symfony compare with Yii for an existing team?
Both are structured frameworks, but Symfony has the larger ecosystem and a formal long-term-support policy, while Yii is often quicker for admin-style applications. We assess your team's skills first.
