Marketing audit & gap analysis that shows where leads and budget disappear
A marketing audit & gap analysis reviews your website, search, paid ads, social and tracking against your goals and competitors, then lists what to fix first. It suits businesses that spend on marketing but cannot say what is working.

- Findings ranked by impact and effort, not dumped in a long list
- Every issue backed by screenshots, data or an account export
- Fix list your own team or ours can start the next day
An outside view of your marketing
When you run marketing every day, you stop seeing it. The contact form that breaks on mobile, the Google Ads campaign that has been bidding on your own name for two years, the blog that ranks for nothing anybody buys: these survive because nobody is looking with fresh eyes and a checklist.
Our audit is that fresh look. We go through the channels you use and the ones you should be using, compare them with your goals and with what competitors do, and write up the gaps. A gap can be a leak (money or leads lost inside an existing channel) or an absence (a channel, page or tracking event that should exist and does not).
We have audited accounts and sites for 500+ clients, so we know which findings usually matter and which are noise. Expect a ranked list, not a hundred-line export from a crawler.
Audit scope by channel
Scope is agreed upfront. This is the usual range.
- Website and conversion pathSpeed, mobile behaviour, forms, calls-to-action, trust signals and where visitors drop off.
- Search visibilityTechnical crawl issues, index coverage in Search Console, keyword and page gaps, local listings where relevant.
- Paid media accountsStructure, search terms, wasted spend, creative, audience settings and conversion goals in Google Ads and Meta Ads.
- Social and contentPosting patterns, which formats earn engagement that matters, and whether content supports a buying decision.
- Tracking and dataGA4 events, tag set-up, duplicate or missing conversions, and whether leads reach a CRM or WhatsApp log.
- Competitor comparisonOffers, pages, ad messages and content depth versus the three or four competitors you actually lose to.
- Prioritised fix listEach action scored for impact and effort, with an owner and a suggested sequence.

Audit process and timeline
A single-channel audit is quick. A full multi-channel review takes longer, mostly because of access and data requests.
- Scoping callWe confirm goals, channels in scope, known problems and who needs to see the result.
- Access and exportsRead-only access to analytics, Search Console, ad accounts and website admin if needed.
- Evidence gatheringCrawls, account reviews, funnel walk-throughs and competitor research, all logged with proof.
- Gap analysisWe compare what you have with what the goal requires and rank each difference.
- Findings presentationA live walk-through where you can ask questions, then the written report.
- Follow-upA short call after your team has started fixing, to check priorities still make sense.

Tools used during the review
Tools find candidates. Judgement decides what matters.
Area | Tools | What we look for |
|---|---|---|
Technical SEO | Screaming Frog, Search Console, PageSpeed Insights | Crawl errors, indexing gaps, slow templates |
Analytics | GA4, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio | Missing events, duplicate tags, broken attribution |
Paid media | Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager | Wasted search terms, weak structure, poor goals |
Content and keywords | Search Console, keyword research tools | Pages with no demand, demand with no page |
User behaviour | Session recordings or heatmaps if installed | Rage clicks, form abandonment, dead buttons |
Scope and cost factors
We quote a fixed scope after a short call. These points change the effort.
Channels in scope
One channel is a focused review. A full review across site, search, ads and social is a larger project.
Account size and age
Older accounts with years of campaigns and plugins carry more clutter to sort through.
Access to data
Quick access and tidy records shorten the work. Missing history is noted as a finding.
Depth of competitor work
A light comparison differs from a detailed content and ad review of several rivals.
Presentation needs
A report for one owner is lighter than a session for a board or several departments.
Situations where an audit is not the answer
An audit of everything will tell you what you already know and delay the repair.
Start with digital marketing strategy consulting instead, where we plan what to build.
Those reports list generic warnings and rarely say which one affects revenue. A useful audit requires a person to read your accounts and talk to you.
Typical gaps we find
Conversion tracking counts the same enquiry twice, or counts a page view as a lead.
Service pages are thin, so the site ranks for blog queries but not commercial ones.
There is no Google Business Profile for a business that depends on local visitors. There is no follow-up sequence for leads who did not buy on the first call.
The value of the audit is in seeing all of them together, ranked, rather than discovering them one at a time through lost money.
A practical example: a Lahore clinic might discover that its Google Business Profile has the wrong primary category, that the booking form sends notifications to a retired email address, and that half the ad budget goes to treatments the clinic no longer offers.
Contents of the final report
The report is written for a busy owner first and a specialist second.
- One-page summaryThe five findings that matter most, what they cost you in missed leads or wasted spend, and what we suggest first.
- Channel scorecardsA short assessment of each channel with evidence, rated for health and for opportunity.
- Quick wins listFixes your team can do in a day or a week with little or no cost.
- Larger projectsWork that needs a developer, designer or budget, with rough effort described in words, not figures.
- Missing data notesPlaces where we could not measure something and what to put in place so next time we can.
- Suggested 90-day orderA sequence that respects dependencies, for example fixing tracking before changing campaigns.
Mistakes in do-it-yourself audits
The usual traps are looking only at what is easy to see, such as the homepage, and ignoring the unglamorous places where money goes: search term reports, redirect chains, form notifications that land in spam.
Google Ads, Meta and your analytics will all claim the same sale. A proper audit reconciles those with the leads your sales team actually received.
If you want to try yourself first, our guide to doing a marketing audit in 7 steps is a fair starting point, and our academy lesson on auditing Google Ads for wasted spend covers one channel.
Report sections by priority
How findings are ordered in the final report.
Priority | Meaning | Typical timing |
|---|---|---|
Fix now | Costs money or leads every day | This week |
Fix soon | Clear gain, needs some work | This month |
Plan | Needs budget or a developer | This quarter |
Monitor | Minor or uncertain | Review later |
Evidence behind every finding
Every finding names the page, campaign or setting, shows evidence and says how we will know the fix worked, for example fewer excluded pages in Search Console, a cleaner search terms report or a conversion event that fires once instead of twice.
Many clients take the quick wins in-house and hand us the technical items, such as those covered in our SEO audit services or conversion tracking setup.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
How long does a marketing audit take?
A single-channel review can be done in days. A multi-channel audit usually runs a few weeks, depending on how quickly we get access and how many accounts and sites are involved. We confirm the timeline at the scoping call.
What is the difference between an audit and a gap analysis?
The audit establishes what you have and how well it works. The gap analysis compares that with what your goals need, so you see what is missing as well as what is broken. We deliver both together.
Do I need to give you login access?
Read-only access is enough in most cases, and we prefer it. You keep control of your accounts. We never need ownership of anything to audit it.
Can you audit just my Google Ads or just my SEO?
Yes. Single-channel work is common. Our SEO audit services page explains that route, and we can run the same style of review on paid accounts.
What will I receive at the end?
A written report with ranked findings, evidence, recommended actions and an owner for each, plus a live presentation. You can also read our outline of how to do a marketing audit in 7 steps to see the method.
Will the audit lead to a sales pitch?
We will tell you where we can help, since that is useful information. You are not obliged to hire us, and the report is yours either way. Use the contact page to ask for a scope.
How is the audit different from a free website checker?
Automated checkers test pages against generic rules. We review your accounts and your business model, so findings are linked to leads and revenue, and we remove false alarms that tools raise.
Can you audit marketing in more than one country?
Yes. We review each market's pages, listings, ads and tracking, and flag where assumptions from one country do not carry over to another.
