Magento migration services that move the data and keep the traffic
We provide Magento migration services for stores moving from Magento 1 to Magento 2, from WooCommerce, OpenCart or custom carts onto Magento, and from one host or version to another. It suits merchants with real order history and search traffic that a careless move would put at risk.

- Trial imports and data checks before the live cutover
- Redirect map and SEO checks to protect existing organic traffic
Migration projects we handle
Three kinds of move reach us. The oldest is Magento 1 to Magento 2.
Magento 1 reached end of life some years ago and no longer receives official security fixes, so any store still on it carries risk. The second is a move from another platform onto Magento, typically a growing WooCommerce, OpenCart or custom-built store that has hit limits on catalogue complexity, multi-store structure or B2B features. The third is infrastructure: a new host, a cloud move or a major version change on Magento 2 itself.
These are different jobs. Moving from Magento 1 is not an upgrade in the normal sense. Magento 2 has a different architecture, so data, themes and extensions are rebuilt or replaced, while customers, products and orders are migrated through tooling plus checks. A platform move needs field mapping from a different data model. A host move is mostly about environment parity and downtime.
Our guide on migrating to Magento 2 from another platform explains the general sequence. This page covers how we run the work as a service.
Pakistani and Gulf merchants add practical points. Many stores run on a single VPS or a shared host where PHP and search versions are not under their control, so the target environment needs planning as part of the project, not after it. Product names and descriptions are often in English and Urdu or Arabic, and character encoding must survive the transfer intact. We check both on the trial import, not at launch.
Scope of a Magento migration
The list is agreed in writing before work starts.
- Pre-migration auditCode, extensions, themes, integrations, data volume and URL structure reviewed, with a risk list and a recommended path.
- Extension and customisation reviewEach extension is kept, replaced by a Magento 2 version, replaced by something else or retired. Custom code is rewritten where it still serves a purpose.
- Data migrationCatalogue, categories, attributes, customers, orders, reviews, CMS content and store configuration moved with mapping documents.
- Theme buildA Magento 2 theme that matches your design or improves it, built for mobile first and speed.
- Integration reconnectionERP, courier, payment, tax and marketing connections rebuilt and tested. See our Magento third-party integration work.
- SEO preservationRedirect mapping, canonical and metadata checks, sitemap and structured data, followed by Search Console monitoring.
- Testing and sign-offTest orders for every payment and shipping path, user role checks and load considerations before go-live.
- Cutover and supportDelta migration of recent orders, DNS switch, monitoring and a defined stabilisation period.

Migration timeline
Dates vary with scope, but the stages stay in this order.
- Discovery and auditWe crawl the live site, review the codebase and database and agree the scope, risks and success checks.
- Environment set-upA Magento 2 staging environment is created with the right PHP, search engine, cache and queue services.
- Build and rebuildTheme, extensions and custom features are installed or rebuilt, and configuration is carried over.
- Trial data migrationWe run test imports, compare counts and spot-check records, fix mapping errors and repeat until the data is clean.
- User acceptance testingYour team places orders, processes returns and checks content. We fix findings and record them.
- Go-liveA final delta import captures the last orders, DNS switches at a low-traffic time, and a rollback plan stays ready.

Tools and technologies
What we use and why.
Tool | Purpose | Note |
|---|---|---|
Adobe's Data Migration Tool | Magento 1 to 2 data transfer | Handles core data, custom tables need mapping |
Composer | Dependency and extension management | Keeps versions reproducible |
OpenSearch or Elasticsearch | Catalogue search | Version must match the Magento release |
Redis and Varnish | Caching and sessions | Needed for acceptable speed |
Git and CI pipelines | Version control and deployment | Safe, repeatable releases |
Screaming Frog and Search Console | URL crawl and post-launch monitoring | Redirect and crawl-error checks |
Factors behind cost and timeline
We quote after the audit. These are the factors that decide it.
Extensions and custom modules
Every one needs a decision and sometimes a rewrite. Stores with many modules take longest.
Data volume
Large order and customer tables need staged imports and more verification.
Theme ambition
A faithful copy costs less than a redesign. We often advise doing the design change after the platform move.
Integrations
ERP and courier links are the most common source of delay.
Multiple stores or languages
Each store view needs configuration, content and testing.
Hosting target
A move to a managed cloud setup needs environment work beyond the application.
Cases where migrating is the wrong decision
If a Magento 2 store is slow, Magento speed optimization is usually cheaper.
If it is behind on versions, Magento upgrade and security patching is the right service.
Our comparison of Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento helps here.
That honesty costs us work occasionally, and it is the reason clients come back.
Evidence and delivery
Proof in a migration is a set of checks you can inspect: record counts matched between old and new, a sampled comparison of products and orders, a crawl that shows redirect status codes, and a Search Console baseline from before and after launch.
We deliver from Gulberg III, Lahore, for merchants in Pakistan, the Gulf, the UK, the US and beyond, and we schedule cutovers around your trading hours and our overlap.
If you are exploring the B2B side after migration, Magento B2B commerce development is the next step. To plan a move, speak to us.
You receive a weekly written status, a shared issue list and a clear schedule of the cutover steps, including who does what at each stage. On the launch night your team knows the plan, and so do we.
Pre-launch checklist we run
Nothing goes live until every line below has been ticked by us and by you.
- Counts matchProducts, categories, customers and orders in the new store match the source, with differences explained.
- Sample records matchA set of orders, customers and products compared field by field, including prices, taxes and statuses.
- Redirects respond correctlyOld URLs return the right permanent redirect and land on the closest equivalent page.
- Payments and shipping workTest orders succeed and fail correctly for every method, and refunds work.
- Emails and accounts workOrder emails, password resets and customer login behave as expected.
- Tracking fires onceAnalytics and ad tags record a single clean event for each purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers before you get in touch.
Is Magento 1 still safe to run?
Magento 1 no longer receives official security patches, so running it exposes a store to known and future vulnerabilities, especially where card data or customer accounts are involved. Our post on why Magento security patching cannot wait covers the reasoning.
Can I upgrade from Magento 1 to 2 in place?
No. Magento 2 is a different codebase, so you build a new store and migrate the data into it. Customisations and themes are rebuilt, not converted automatically.
Will I lose search rankings?
A well-run migration with a complete redirect map and carried-over metadata keeps losses small and short-lived, but nobody can promise zero movement. We monitor Search Console closely afterward.
Can you migrate from WooCommerce to Magento?
Yes. Data is mapped between the two models, with extra care for custom fields, variations and plugin-generated data. We test imports repeatedly before the live move.
Do I need to stop selling during the migration?
No. The live store continues until cutover, which is planned for a low-traffic period. A final import brings across orders placed while we were testing.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on extensions, integrations, data size and design work. A simple catalogue moves faster than a large store with many custom modules. You receive a milestone plan after the audit.
