Enterprise web portal development that gives every user one secure front door

We build enterprise web portals on ASP.NET Core for employees, distributors, vendors and customers who need to log in, see their own data and complete tasks without phoning someone. It suits organizations whose information is scattered across spreadsheets, email threads and disconnected systems.

A portal is a business process with a login

People often describe a portal as a website with a password. The useful way to see it is as a business process moved online.

A distributor places and tracks orders. An employee requests leave or equipment. A supplier uploads invoices and checks payment status. A patient or student views records. If the process is unclear on paper, a portal will only make the confusion faster.

That is why we begin with the workflow and the data, then the screens. We map who starts a request, who approves it, which system holds the truth and what happens when someone is absent. The technology, ASP.NET Core on SQL Server in most cases, comes after those answers.

The portals we build for companies in Pakistan often replace WhatsApp groups and Excel sheets that have quietly become the operating system of the business. For overseas clients, the same design handles multi-branch teams and external partners across time zones.

Portal types we build

Each has different users, risks and integrations.

Employee and HR portals

Leave, attendance views, payslips, policy documents, requests and approvals, connected to your payroll or HR system.

Customer self-service portals

Account details, orders, invoices, tickets and document downloads, so support staff stop answering the same questions.

Dealer and distributor portals

Price lists, stock availability, order placement, credit status and statements. Our wholesaler marketing work often sits beside this.

Vendor and supplier portals

Onboarding, document collection, purchase orders, delivery confirmations and payment tracking.

Knowledge and partner portals

Gated content, training material, deal registration and support resources for channel partners.

Operations dashboards

Management views over production, projects, field teams or branches, drawing from several systems at once.

Why trust this team with your build

Deliverables in a typical portal project

We list these in the proposal so you can see what is in the first release and what is planned later.

  • Requirements and workflow mapsDiagrams and written rules for each process the portal handles, agreed with the people who run them.
  • Identity and access designSingle sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID or another provider where required, multi-factor sign-in, and a permission model by role, department and record.
  • Workflow engineRequest, review, approve, reject and escalate flows, with reminders and delegate approvers.
  • Document handlingUploads with type and size limits, virus scanning where hosting allows, versioning and controlled downloads.
  • IntegrationsConnectors to ERP, CRM, accounting and email through APIs, with retry logic and error alerts. See our API development and integration work.
  • NotificationsEmail, SMS and WhatsApp Business messages where your users prefer them, with clear opt-in handling.
  • Reporting and exportsFiltered lists, scheduled reports and Excel or PDF export for finance and management.
  • Admin consoleUser management, configuration and content controls, so routine changes need no developer.

Planning for adoption, not only launch

The best portal in the world fails if staff keep emailing spreadsheets.

We treat adoption as part of the build.

That means choosing a first group of users who feel the pain most, giving them a version that solves one real problem completely, and collecting their complaints in the first week while changes are quick.

We also look at the unglamorous parts.

Who creates accounts when a new employee or distributor joins? Who removes access when someone leaves? What happens to requests in flight when a manager is on leave?

These questions are boring in a workshop and painful in production, so we answer them in the design.

Training material is written for the actual roles: a short guide for approvers, a different one for requesters, a third for administrators.

For teams spread over Lahore, Karachi and overseas branches, we record short screen walkthroughs so nobody depends on a live session at an awkward hour.

From workshop to live portal

We favour a narrow first release that real users can start using, then widen it.

  1. Discovery workshopsInterviews with users and process owners, review of existing forms, spreadsheets and systems.
  2. Information architectureRoles, pages, data model and integration points, shown as wireframes before any development.
  3. Design and prototypeClickable screens tested with a few real users, so confusing steps are fixed while they are cheap.
  4. Build in incrementsCore workflow first, then secondary modules, each demonstrated on a staging site.
  5. Security and performance reviewPermission testing, input validation checks, dependency review and load testing against expected concurrent users.
  6. Pilot and rolloutA small group goes live first, followed by training material, data import and a phased switch from the old process.

Security controls we plan for

Portals hold sensitive information, so protection is part of the design. This is a general view, and your sector may add rules.

Area
What we do
Why it matters
Authentication
Multi-factor sign-in, lockout rules, single sign-on
Stolen passwords are the most common entry point
Authorization
Permission checks on every action and record, not just menus
Hiding a button is not access control
Data protection
Encryption in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive fields
Limits harm if a backup or disk is exposed
Audit trail
Who viewed, changed or approved what, and when
Needed for disputes, audits and internal reviews
Input handling
Validation, parameterised queries, safe file uploads
Blocks injection and malicious upload attacks
Updates
Dependency monitoring and a patch schedule
Old components are a quiet risk

Scope, cost and timeline drivers

Cost follows complexity of workflow, not page count.

The questions that matter most are how many roles and approval paths exist, how many systems must connect and in which direction data flows, how clean the existing data is, whether the portal must support more than one language such as English and Urdu, and what compliance or audit demands apply.

We scope in phases.

A discovery phase produces a fixed-price plan you can keep even if you choose another team. Build phases are then priced against a defined scope, with a change process for new requests.

Larger programmes may run as a dedicated team on a monthly basis.

International clients are invoiced in USD, and we overlap with UK, UAE and US business hours from Lahore.

For an estimate, get in touch with a short description of your users and systems.

Situations where a portal is too much

A portal is overkill when twenty people share a handful of simple tasks that a shared drive and a form could cover.
It is also premature if the underlying process changes every month, because you will pay to rebuild screens that keep going stale.
Sometimes an off-the-shelf product, SharePoint or a well-configured CRM is the better answer, and we will say so.

Look at CRM development when your main need is sales and customer tracking, or ERP development when operations, stock and finance are the core.

If your system is an older Web Forms application, ASP.NET Web Forms modernization may be the right first step.

Our post on building secure enterprise portals with ASP.NET explains the architecture in more depth.

Proof by method: adoption and accuracy you can measure

A portal succeeds when people use it and the data inside is right.

We define measures with you before launch: share of requests submitted through the portal rather than email, time from request to approval, number of support questions that fall away, and error rates in imported or entered data.

After release we review those numbers with you monthly, along with application logs and user feedback.

If a screen confuses people, we change the screen.

Our ASP.NET development services team stays on after launch, and the same approach applies when we add Blazor development for richer interfaces or connect the portal to Azure and ASP.NET cloud solutions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you get in touch.

How long does an enterprise portal take to build?

A focused first release can take a few months, while portals with many roles and integrations take longer. We give a plan with phases after discovery. Anyone quoting a date before understanding your workflows is guessing.

Can the portal connect to our existing ERP or accounting software?

Usually yes, through APIs, database views or file exchange, depending on what the system offers. We check what the vendor supports during discovery. Older systems without APIs may need a small integration layer.

Can staff sign in with their company accounts?

Yes. ASP.NET Core works well with Microsoft Entra ID and other standard identity providers, so staff use one login and access can be removed centrally when someone leaves.

Can the portal handle both English and Urdu?

Yes. Right-to-left layout, Urdu fonts and translated labels can be built in. Plan time for review by native speakers, since translation of business terms needs care.

Where should the portal be hosted?

That depends on policy, user location and budget. Options include Azure, a local data centre or your own servers. Our cloud solutions page describes the cloud route.

Do you provide support after launch?

Yes. We offer a post-release support window and ongoing maintenance plans covering fixes, updates, monitoring and new features, with response times agreed in writing.
