Store problems a brochure-site plan ignores

An online store creates problems a brochure site never has. The same product appears under several categories.

Filters generate thousands of URLs. Items go out of stock and the page either disappears or ranks for nothing. Manufacturer descriptions are copied across hundreds of competitors. A generic SEO plan ignores all of this.

We start from how people buy. Someone searching for a broad term like 'running shoes' wants to compare options, which is a category page job. Someone searching a model name wants a price and stock, which is a product page job. A third group searches for advice before buying, which is a guide or blog job. Each needs its own page type, its own keywords and its own internal links.

In Pakistan the picture has extra details. Many shoppers browse on mobile over uneven connections, expect cash on delivery and ask questions on WhatsApp before ordering. Product pages that answer delivery times, return terms and payment options in plain words convert better than pages that bury them. We build that into the pages we optimise.

Scope across catalogue, templates and tracking

We adapt this list to your platform and catalogue size.

  • Keyword mapping by page typeCategories, subcategories, products, brands and guides each get a target set so pages stop competing with one another.
  • Category page optimisationTitles, intro copy, filters, internal links and supporting content that help a category rank and sell.
  • Product page templatesUnique descriptions, specs, images with alt text, reviews, FAQs and structured data, rolled out by template for large catalogues.
  • Faceted navigation and URL controlDecisions on which filters should be indexed and which should be blocked or canonicalised.
  • Site structure and internal linkingNavigation, breadcrumbs and related-product links that pass authority to pages that earn money.
  • Product feed and Merchant Center alignmentClean titles and attributes that serve both organic listings and shopping surfaces. See our Google Shopping setup guide.
  • Speed and mobile checksImage weight, scripts and checkout steps reviewed on real mobile conditions, with support from our technical SEO services.
  • Revenue reportingGA4 ecommerce events and Search Console connected so organic orders are visible by landing page.

Category pages carry the revenue

Most stores treat category pages as a grid of thumbnails with a heading.

Yet those pages usually target the broadest, highest-volume searches, and they are where a buyer decides which product to open.

A category that ranks needs more than a keyword in the title.

It needs a short opening that explains the range, filters that match how people choose, links to subcategories and top sellers, and a lower section that answers the questions a shopper has before buying.

We write that copy so it supports the sale and does not read like filler for search engines.

A paragraph above the products pushes them below the fold on mobile, so we usually place the longer guidance beneath the grid and keep a short summary above it.

We also check pagination, sorting and filter URLs on each category, since that is where duplicate and near-empty pages are produced.

Naming matters too.

Pakistani shoppers may search for the same item by English name, a local name or a spelling variant, and a category named after your internal stock code helps nobody.

We work from the words customers use, check them against Search Console and adjust labels and URLs with proper redirects.

Delivery plan from audit to growth

A typical sequence for a store that has been live for some time.

  1. Store and data auditWe review crawl health, indexation, templates, catalogue structure, tracking and the top organic and paid pages.
  2. Opportunity sizingSearch demand is grouped by category and product type, so effort goes where buying intent is highest.
  3. Fix the foundationDuplicate URLs, thin pages, canonical mistakes and broken redirects are corrected before new content is added.
  4. Template and category workPriority categories and product templates are rewritten and published in batches, so we can measure each batch.
  5. Content and linksBuying guides, comparison pages and outreach support the commercial pages with relevant authority.
  6. Review and expandWe study what moved, retire what did not and extend the playbook to the next set of categories.

Elements every product page needs

These are the details that decide whether a product page can rank and convert. We build them into the template, then adjust for each range.

  • A unique, specific title and descriptionBrand, model, key attribute and use case in natural language, written for people first.
  • Honest images with descriptive file namesMultiple angles, real scale and alt text that describes the item. Heavy images are compressed before upload.
  • Price, stock and delivery in plain viewShoppers should not need to hunt for delivery time, return terms or whether cash on delivery is offered.
  • Reviews and questionsOn-page reviews with structured data where policy allows, and answers to common pre-purchase questions.
  • Variant handlingSizes and colours dealt with so that variants do not create duplicate pages or hide the main product from search.
  • Related and complementary productsLinks that help shoppers continue and give search engines a clear picture of how your range fits together.

Platform differences that affect the plan

Each system has strengths and limits, and we work inside them. Platform-specific pages go deeper.

Selling in Pakistan and abroad

For Pakistani stores, we look at how buyers actually order.

Many add items to a cart, then confirm by phone or WhatsApp before shipping. That affects measurement, since the website records an order that may later be cancelled.

We help you tag confirmed orders where your system allows, so organic revenue is not overstated.

Related topics, such as card payments, are covered in accepting payments on Shopify in Pakistan.

Some of our clients sell to the USA, UK, UAE and Canada from Pakistan.

That calls for a different approach: pricing in the buyer's currency, shipping information shown early, local-language pages where needed and reviews that international buyers trust.

We schedule calls around your working hours, whether you are in New York, London or Dubai.

Costs and timelines: what moves them

We quote after reviewing the store. These factors decide the size of the project.

Catalogue size

A few hundred products can be handled individually. Tens of thousands need rules and templates.

Platform and theme

A clean theme is quick to improve. A heavily customised one may need developer time.

Competition

Crowded categories need more content, links and patience than niche ones.

Existing content

Unique descriptions give a head start. Supplier copy means a rewrite.

Markets and languages

Selling to several countries adds currency, language and hreflang work. See international SEO services.

Internal resources

If your team can upload and edit quickly, work moves faster.

Situations where we would advise against it

If you sell a single product through a landing page, or your catalogue is tiny and brand new, a full programme is hard to justify.
Paid search or social will bring testing data faster, and organic work can start once you have products worth ranking.

Likewise, if margins are thin and stock is unreliable, the traffic you win will not pay for itself.

Stores that lean heavily on marketplaces should also think twice about timing.

If most sales come from a third-party platform, your own site may lack the reviews and brand searches that help it rank.

We often suggest building brand demand and a clean store first, then adding organic work.

For furniture and home retailers, our view on this is set out in furniture and interior design marketing, and the general store view is in marketing for ecommerce stores.

Proof by method: reporting on revenue, not rank

Ranking reports can look good while sales stay flat, so our monthly report starts with organic sessions, orders and revenue by landing page type, then moves to rankings and indexation.

We compare product and category segments separately and mark the dates of every release.

If a store runs cash on delivery, we ask for refusal and return data where you have it, so we do not celebrate orders that never complete.

We also review search queries in Search Console against the pages that appear, which exposes where the wrong page ranks for a term. Reports cover what we shipped, what moved, what did not and what we recommend next.

Nothing is hidden behind a branded score.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you get in touch.

How soon will ecommerce SEO bring orders?

It depends on the starting state, competition and how quickly pages can be changed. Fixes to indexing and category pages can show movement within a few months, but new content and links build slowly. We agree checkpoints after the audit rather than quoting a date we cannot control.

Do you optimise every product or only categories?

Both, in order of value. Categories and best-selling products come first. For large catalogues we write rules and templates so every product gets a sound base, then hand-write copy for the items that earn most.

Can SEO replace my Google Ads or Meta Ads spend?

Rarely at the start. Organic traffic grows slowly and ads bring orders now. Most stores keep both, then adjust the mix as organic revenue rises. Our Google Ads management team can coordinate shopping campaigns with your organic plan.

Which platforms do you support?

Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and custom builds. If your platform is among those with its own page, such as Shopify SEO services, read it for the platform detail.

Do you write product descriptions?

Yes, for priority products and templates. We write from real specifications, use cases and buyer questions, not from supplier copy. For very large catalogues we agree a review process so descriptions stay accurate.

How do you handle out-of-stock and discontinued products?

It depends on whether the item returns. Temporary stock-outs usually keep the page live with clear messaging and alternatives. Permanently removed items are redirected to the closest relevant product or category. We set these rules once, then apply them. You can contact us to discuss your catalogue.
