Backlinks are one of the most important aspects of Search Engine Optimization. A backlink, also known as a “backlink”, is simply a link back to one page to another on the Internet. Backlinks can play an integral role in Search Engine Optimization, but how do search engines determine which site to show when a certain keyword is an excellent match for literally hundreds if not thousands of other sites? The answer is in the type of backlink that the site is providing – and if you are new to Off Page SEO then you will want to make sure that you are taking advantage of these types of backlinks.
One of the best ways that I have found to generate backlinks is through what are called “Page Rank” links. Page Rank refers to the search engine algorithms that are used to determine which webpages should rank higher for specific keywords. In order to take advantage of the importance of Page Rank, you will want to find sites that are ranked high in the Search Engines for a particular topic. Once you identify these high Page Rank sites, you should contact them and ask if they would be willing to “prefer” (or “backlink”) you to their site so that you will get more of the backlinks that you are looking for. In this example, you would be requesting a backlink from each page that the site ranked high in the overall search.
Another method that is commonly used off page SEO is what are known as “resource boxes”. Resource boxes are typically placed at the end of articles; however, this can work very well for off page SEO as well. These resource boxes contain a description of the author and a short description of the website that you are linking to. This is used as a way to provide more information about the website that you are linking to, and also as a way to direct traffic to the site. Using these methods off page SEO can increase the ranking of your website dramatically.
